I use journal entries to add supplier expenses because I do not have the "Bills" option. The VAT leg of the journal does not show on the VAT 201 report. Any suggestions?

The tax code used to track transactions affects how they're reported in QuickBooks Online (QBO) including the tax return. We’ll have to make sure you’re using the right one. This way, the information on the journal entries to display on the VAT 201 statement.

 

Since you're using journal entries, I also suggest using the Cash method when running the report. To accomplish this task, open the VAT 201 Calculation statement and tick the radio button for the Accounting method. You may also want to go to the register and open a report to see the journal entries.
