What if I dont have a VAT no?

It’s great to see you today, shannondegoede.

Having no VAT No. means your business isn’t VAT-registered. Please make sure not to enable the Tax tracking feature in the program. This way, no VAT is required when creating a transaction.

If you’ve already turned on the Tax tracking feature, let’s go to the Account and Settings page. From there, you can change the default tax rate selection to Out of scope of Tax. By doing so, you’ll no longer need to apply VAT on your transactions. Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon at the upper right.
  2. Select Account and Settings under Your Company.
  3. Go to Advanced from the left menu.
  4. Select the Accounting section.
  5. On the Default tax rate selection drop-down, choose Out of scope of Tax.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Select Done.

Check out the two screenshots below for your visual reference.

Though you have no VAT, I’d still recommend visiting this resource hub on how to effectively manage it: https://community.intuit.com/browse/quickbooks-online-za-taxes.

If there's anything else that you need help with, don't hesitate to comment below. Take care always.
