We are a small company, and contract with a bookkeeper to tend to our books. We use Quickbooks Desktop (switching to online is not an option) and our remote bookkeeper has the file. For various reasons, we need access to the file, but have not been able to figure out how to store and access that data from the cloud. Does anyone know of a solution that would allow us at the office and our remote booker to access the QB data file?
Hi there, @MichelleMM.
I can help guide you to the lists of our Intuit-Authorized Hosting Providers.
The standard hosting program is designed to provide application hosting services to QuickBooks end users. These users include accountants, bookkeepers, small business and other entities that wish to access their licensed QuickBooks desktop software via a remote hosting.
Let me route you to this helpful article for more details about hosting providers: What hosting providers are authorized by Intuit?
This should help guide you in the right direction. If you need other references in the future, please feel free to access our site: Help articles for QuickBooks Desktop.
Should you have additional questions about hosting, please don't hesitate to let me know. I'm always here to help however I can. Have a great weekend.
You can purchase a Virtual Private Server solution from any ISP. But most of the time, they won't support you anything once you have a technical problem with QuickBooks. Another option, you may deploy a private cloud solution. You may only have one login access and utilize it in turns to minimize your cost (i.e $25/month/access).
Thank you for chiming in and sharing your thoughts. When using a cloud-based server, follow these guidelines for system requirements for Quickbooks Desktop before setting up multi-user access. Please keep in mind, Quickbooks operates from a Windows natively and not through a virtual environment. Setting up a multi-user network, sometimes may require assistance from your IT professionals when trying to map the network and computers. However, I recommended this article to set up and install the system. Also, if you receive any problems, this link shows how to fix common errors by switching to multi-user mode. You can host your QuickBooks software on the cloud server. By hosting, it means that the cloud service provider will install your QuickBooks Desktop version on their network server. You and your bookkeeper both can access the QuickBooks data on cloud simultaneously from different locations via a web browser. The user interface, features, and functionalities will be the same as QuickBooks Desktop. All the changes made in the QuickBooks will be saved automatically in real-time and will appear to users.
