Hello, AWJ13.
I understand the importance of having the option to import QuickBooks Online data into TurboTax Business.
The ability to import your QuickBooks Online (QBO) data to TurboTax is unavailable. As a workaround, you can transfer your data to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), then import it to TurboTax.
You can download our free trial version if you don't have a QBDT installed on your computer. The data in QBO can then be moved or converted to QBDT. Please refer to this article: Export and convert your QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop.
After that, you can follow these steps to transfer your QuickBooks data to TurboTax Business:
- Sign in to your TurboTax and go to the File menu.
- Select Import.
- Click the From Accounting Software.
- Select QuickBooks (2021) and click Continue.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.
Feel free to visit this article for more details: How do I import QuickBooks data into TurboTax Business?
Additionally, you can run your reports for both software to ensure all the data and numbers are correct.
Leave a comment below if you have further questions about importing data. We're always here to help.

Just a wild idea - since TT desktop can only get data from QB desktop, is it maybe possible for TT online to get data from QB online?
Beyond that, I have to say I'm shocked that there's not direct connection between QBO and TT desktop. I'm not a coder, but I wouldn't think it would be that hard to accomplish. Is it just a matter of prioritization? Why not have your guys take a break from some of the new features and fix up some things like this?

Indeed, the various TurboTax, Quicken and QuickBooks software should integrate better. It's surprising (shocking) how it's not more unified. Thinking in silos perhaps?

I just did my taxes and ran right into this issue. You need to fix it for those of us using the online Quickbooks...to have these two programs not able to communicate seamlessly is not at all what I would expect. I've been using Turbotax for 9 years and Quickbooks for 3....you need to get this done.

I was just told by Turbo Tax support that the reason turbo tax can not import tax data from QuickBooks is because my QuickBooks used a 64 bit installer. And that I need to reinstall QuickBooks with 32 bit installer.
So much for compatible software from one company (Intuit).

So, I was pushed to upgrade my older version of Quickbooks Desktop to use the online version of Quickbooks versus upgrading to the latest desktop version. However, now I can't do my taxes without finding a hidden link in the community forums, exporting to a file, downloading an importer, importing into the desktop version. This is one of the most backward solutions I've seen, especially since it's been how many years.
So, I did that, it did not match up, found out that QBO un-reconciled bank account when importing from QBD last November...all the way back to 1/1/2020. Re-reconciled two years of statements, repeated above export/import exercise, still missing accounts and some accounts $30-40 off.. Repeat per instructions for a third time, still missing one account, repeat again, still missing one account. Gave up...apparently I won't get to import my data into TurboTax For Business.
I guess I'll be looking for another solution for Taxes next year, and probably a less expensive alternative to QBO.

TaxAct was a cheaper product but I paid ~$50 more for TurboTax Business only because the description said that I can import data from Quickbooks. Thought that would be a time saver and make it easier for me since this is my 1st attempt at doing our business return. Nowhere did it mention that you HAVE TO HAVE the desktop version of QB. I have now wasted time and money on this project and the clock is ticking. VERY FRUSTRATING!!!!!!!! Change your product description!

We should have to go through those extra steps! Your websites and ads need to disclose upfront that TT business is not compatible with QBO. I never would have purchased TTB if I had known this. Sounds like bait and switch to me, which is pretty shady!

Wow! I was going to try using their stupid work-around, but I have zero interest in doing so now, knowing there’s a risk of it jacking up my QBO information. I’ll call them back, get a refund, and use TAXAct, which is cheaper.

Would love to know what you find. This problem is ridiculous for the cost of QB.

Have any improvements been made with importing Quickbooks online data to Turbotax since March 2022? Do we need to follow the same workaround hack guidance for the 2022 tax season in 2023 that we did for the 2021 tax season in 2022?

Disillusioned with intuit over the decision to not enable QBO data import to turbo tax. Very disappointed, what a waste of time it’s been using your products.

Intuit likes to make its Customers work for free and then charges them. Why are the products not more compatible?

For both Quickbooks online and Turbotax to have the same parent company and your QBO and Turbotax accounts show under your one intuit profile page. It makes my brain explode that you have to do some odd workaround involving downloading and installing a desktop version of an Online product you pay A LOT of money for to move data from one product to the other under your one-parent account. The kicker is that if I have the cheaper "self-employed" version of QB, this feature exists and is on your dashboard to simplify it. So it is not like they cannot figure out make the connection.

Total SCAM. When I ordered I asked about it and they said no problem. Now you have to buy the product (trial no longer available) then get a refund after spending an hour or more just doing the migration.
Why don't they just export a TXF and be done with it.
Very disappointed in the support for this product, or bad support and sales information.

Wow...I'll chime in with everyone else here dropping comments. What a joke! I can't even purchase QB desktop anymore and Turbo Tax is telling me I need to have it to import my biz data. So dumb...Pretty sure I am going to cancel my QBO and find another solution.

Well, it's 4 years later and still no real solution to this in sight.
The workaround suggested is laborious, limited to only a one time use (the trial ends in 30 days), and worst of all apparently highly error-prone from all reports. Getting the math horribly wrong is WHY we turn to software like Quickbooks and TurboTax in the first place, to avoid those errors not introduce them.
The ability to sync our bookkeep data (Quickbooks) into our tax data (TurboTax) is THE SINGULAR BIGGEST SELLING FEATURE of these tools for small business users. Since that feature is apparently vaporware, we will absolutely be looking at moving away from Quickbooks and/or TurboTax as quickly as possible.
I've been TurboTax user for decades, sticking around even through many of its incredibly stupid basic bugs and glitches, but our needs are growing and clearly Intuit's tools aren't up to the task of growing with us.

I am about to migrate to Xero as it's cheaper and thought, hold up, I use Intuit TurboTax for taxes, maybe I'll be missing out on interconnectivity migrating away? Nope. Makes sense as I always have had to run expense category reports from QBO and then manually enter them into TurboTax so if it was possible I would have done it a long time ago.
As a Software Developer for 30 years, like the rest of you, I'm flabbergasted this still isn't possible.

Can't believe QuickBooks and Turbo Tax still don't "talk" to each other after all these years. People have been flagging this for so long. Where are the PRIORITIES for Intuit? It should be a big selling feature. What a shame.
