Looking for a report that will track payroll (in total hours, not $) per location, over time. Trying to set goals for location managers for payroll reduction efforts.

Trying to manage payroll by location better, and set goals for managers to reduce payroll costs.  To do so, I need a report I can show them by payroll over let's say this calendar year, to show them the up and downs in payroll by their location, and then a report every payroll going forward that i can send to them, to show them how they are progressing with their efforts.

Employees and payroll

Let me share some information about running a report to track payroll per location overtime in QuickBooks Online (QBO), grhome.

The option to run a report that shows per payroll location is unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO). However, we've got alternatives to ensure you'd keep track of your employee's location when running payroll and their paychecks. We can add and create a Note or Memo to your employee's paychecks to help you identify which employee is assigned to this location.

Here's how to add a memo to your employee's paychecks:

  1. Go to the Payroll section from the left menu bar and choose Employees.
  2. Click Paycheck lists under the Run Payroll button.
  3. Select and double-click on the specific employee.
  4. Scroll down at the bottom and enter a note description in the Memo section.
  5. Once done, tap Print to view the location description when printing.

Also, you can run reports by class to keep track of your payroll expenses. When you assign a class to each employee in the payroll settings, payroll will automatically be categorized. To see additional information about how location tracking is used and how it works, you can refer to this article: Set up and use location tracking.

Feel free to visit our Reports page for more insights about creating and managing reports in QBO.
