I would like to Direct deposit a bonus check not at same time as payroll. Do I have to add a pay period? If so, what are the parameters?

You can select the Bonus only option to Direct Deposit (DD) a bonus check in your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account. This way, you don't have to add a pay period. Let me guide you how.


In your QBO:

  1. Go to the Workers menu and select the Employees tab.
  2. Select Bonus only from the Run payroll drop-down menu.
  3. Choose either As net pay or As gross pay and click Continue.
  4. Select the employee for the bonus check and enter the amount.
  5. Click the edit (pencil) icon beside the Payroll options.
  6. Choose the payroll options you want and click Apply.
  7. Click preview and submit payroll.
