If you own a company, you have 2 options:

1. QBO EasyStart, if you don't need to manage bill and payment

2. QuickBooks Desktop Pro edition for 1 user

You can install it on your desktop at home and access it by a remote desktop app on your iPad

I have the same question, however, in this case (self-employed and incorporated), is it better to use Quickbooks Online or Quickbooks self-employed?  Both seem to be available online.  Can you please help?

I would prefer to use Self Employed for my incorporated business.  Is that a viable option?  What are the shortcomings of using Self Employed?

QBSE is a stand alone product. Almost no 3rd party apps support it. Why don't you consider using QBO?
