setting up multiple companies
I would like to split our current company into two separate company files - one for our construction division and one for our service division (we have been told that we are too big to utilize our current desktop version). Is this something that is possible? I know I can run financials from multiple companies so it sounded to me like this is something that is possible. Just not sure how to treat vendors that are owed from both companies etc as an example.

Thank you for your response. We currently use classes, but that is not the issue. We are too big for QB's so I am looking into other possibilities to still utilize this system with our dispatching program. My question is; I would like to create two new company files - one for construction and one for service. Is that possible? I see you are able to merge financial statements from two different companies, so that leads me to believe this possible. Are you telling me that is not the case?

Hi there ClaireF1,
You can have multiple company files to keep track of different companies. You can create one for your second business by following the steps in this guide.

I would recommend to create 2 new company files from scratch. Utilize a 3rd party tool to migrate historical transactions from the old file if required.
