So I can better understand what is going on with your company file, could you share a screenshot of what you're seeing? This way, I can investigate this matter further and provide the right steps to get this resolved. 

Please know QuickBooks will not create another company file on its own. The only way that this can occur is if a user copies it, creates a backup of the file, etc.
