In chart of accounts, why can't I name an income account the same as an expense account

You'll have to put an identifier for the income account so it will be the same with the expense account.


Here's how:


  1. Go to the Accounting menu in the left pane.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Click the New button.
  4. In the Account Type drop-down choose Expenses.
  5. Select the transactions in the Detail Type.
  6. Enter the name together with the identifier in the name field.
  7. Hit Save and Close or Save and New.
