Hi again, Mchatwell.

Currently when importing transactions, we have a set template within the software to be used. I understand this can throw your ideal work flow off but we have it in place to make it simple for all of our users. We would greatly appreciate your feedback on matters such as this. to send your feedback within your QuickBooks Online company file:

  1. Select the Gear icon at the top, then Feedback.
  2. Enter your comments or product suggestions then select Next.
  3. You'll be provided a list of suggested Help articles related to your comment. You can read through them or select Skip and send message.
  4. From the drop-down, choose the appropriate category, then select Send message.

We use your valuable feedback in the release of future updates. You're able to track feature requests through the QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website. I'll be sure to submit this request on my end. If there's anything else I can help with please let me know.
