Hello there, @VISTA-BOB.

If you need to print the check and hand it over to your vendor, you really need to set up a vendor in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). Once done writing a check, you can make the vendor inactive if you wish to delete the one time payee (vendor) that you've set up. I'm here to help guide you how.

To set up a vendor:

  1. Click on Vendors.
  2. Select Vendor Center.
  3. Click on New Vendor beside New Transactions.
  4. Select New Vendor.
  5. Fill in the information.
  6. Click OK.

To create a check:

  1. Click on the Banking menu.
  2. Select Write Checks.
  3. Fill in the necessary information.
  4. Click on Save and close.

If you wish to inactivate the vendor (one time payee):

  1. Click on Vendors at the top menu bar.
  2. Select on Vendor Center.
  3. Right-click on the vendor name.
  4. Click on Make Vendor Inactive.
