Bank Feeds - no detail in transactions

Is anyone having trouble getting details of transactions in the bank feeds?  Mine are coming in as a generic "Visa Purchase" with no bank detail within the transactions.  QBO Advisor tells me I'll just have to look them up in the bank account and manually code them.

Bank Feeds - no detail in transactions

Hi JLL89!

I also like seeing more details on my bank transactions because it's easier to determine what they are for. I'll show you how you can check for more details on yours.

On the Banking page, you'll want to click the small Gear icon above the table, and select Copy bank details to memo and Show bank details. That will be it. Please know that your bank sends us these details, and QBO has no control over the information we download from your account.

I'm also happy to share these articles to guide you through handling your transactions:

@JessT Thank you for your reply. I've made the changes you've suggested and hope that future transactions come in with more detail so I will know where the purchases were made. Please see the attached documents showing the difference in how the transaction used to come into QBO vs. what I'm seeing now. It's very difficult to code them when I don't know where they're from. Did QBO make this change recently? I started seeing itd around mid January 2022.

Bank Feeds - no detail in transactions

Hello, JLL89.

Thank you for the screenshot you've shared with us. In QuickBooks, we don't have control of the transaction and information imported by your financial institution.

As an initial troubleshooting step, try logging into your QBO account using a private browser (incognito). There are times that the browser is full of frequently accessed page resources, causing some unusual responses.

Here's how:

  • Press Ctrl Shift (Google Chrome).
  • Ctrl Shift + P (Firefox or Internet Explorer).
  • Control Option (Safari).

If it works, return to your default browser and perform a clear cache. Every so often the cache becomes overwhelmed with older data which can potentially cause viewing and performance issues. Clearing it will refresh the system, and you'll be able to work with a clean slate. However, if the issue persists, try using other supported browsers.

If you're noticing that the issue persists after this troubleshooting, then I'd encourage you to touch base with support so we can investigate this further.

Additionally, I've also included this reference for a compilation of articles you can use while working with us: Banking with QuickBooks Online.

Bank Feeds - no detail in transactions

I'm here to help you with your banking concern, @mw68.

Can you tell me more about the bank that you're having? This way, I can check if there are any reported issues with your bank and provide you with the best resolution.

For now, the information shared by my colleague JessT will help you show the bank details on the Banking page. Just make sure to filter the correct transaction details.

Also, if your bank transactions are manually imported into QuickBooks, I suggest ensuring the mapping of the entries is correct or the data is in the proper format. You may refer to this article to view further details and how to perform the steps: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.

In addition to the troubleshooting posted above, you'll want to check the bank itself. This behavior could also be due to their system issue.

You can also contact our Customer Support Team about this matter. They can check the transactions for you and further investigate this matter.

Once everything is fixed, you can now categorise your transactions by matching and adding them to avoid duplicates. Then reconcile your accounts so they always match your bank and credit card statements to avoid discrepancies: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

If there's anything else you need help with concerning your QuickBooks Online account, please don't hesitate to visit the Community again. Stay safe, @mw68.

@mw68

Are you using TD Bank by chance?  I finally called them directly and they told me it's a known issue on their end and they're working on a resolution.  No ETA at this point but I'll update this post once I hear anything.

Good luck!

Ha!  YES!  I am using TD Bank and experiencing the exact same issue as you, and it happened right around 1/18.  Honestly I have had lots of issues with TD connecting but always find a way to fumble through it.  This issue though makes it impossible to sort transactions without referring to the paper statement.  I see it with many of the Debit card transactions.  Just says VISA Purchase. Nothing else. Please do let me know if they correct it.  I will call them myself also.  Thank you!!

@mw6

Hello again,

I just logged into QB again and I can now see additional detail in the bank feed for TD Bank.  How about you?  I still have 'VISA DDA PUR - ' at the beginning of each transaction but at least I can see more about the transactions.  Just curious if you're seeing the same thing.

Hoping you have the same thing...
