Does making a Journal Entry affect the Bank Reconciliation in any way? I have a Bank Rec completed to end of Dec 2021 and if I now make Journal Entries, dated before 31st Dec 2021, will these in any way affect the Bank Rec? The Journal Entries would be between Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet accounts and not the Bank Account.

Hi there, ccf2.

There are two accounts affected when you create a journal entry. If you add the bank from the Account field, then it will affect the reconciled account and changes its balance.

Here's a link to guide you through recording the transaction: Create a journal entry in QuickBooks Online.

If you need to modify the entry, you can browse this link to help you with the process: Reverse or delete a journal entry in QuickBooks Online.

Also, if you need more help about what accounts to debit and credit, I recommend consulting your accountant. They can guide you through the process to ensure your bank accounts have accurate records.

Keep me posted if you have additional questions about making a journal entry. I'm always around here to help you.
