What should i do to tally the bank balance with in quickbook

Hello there, nursyahira. I'm here to ensure your business operations run smoothly and you're always on top of your financial records. If your bank balance in QuickBooks Online differs from your actual bank statement the first time you reconcile, you can edit the Opening Balance Equity to match them.

The Opening Balance Equity in QuickBooks Online is the initial amount in your bank account or financial institution when you begin using the software. It refers to the amount that appears on your bank statement when you open it for the first time.

Here's how to edit:

  1. Head to the Transactions menu. Click your preferred bank account.
  2. Press the Go to bank register button.
  3. Look for the Opening Balance Equity and edit as necessary.

For more information, refer to this article: Fix issues the first time you reconcile an account.

If you've previously reconciled but the bank balance in QuickBooks doesn't match your actual balance on your bank statement, it could be that the system hasn't downloaded the latest cleared transactions. To resolve this, you can manually update it by going to the Bank Transactions page click the Update button.

To ensure the real-life statement balance matches the information in the system, categorise and match your downloaded transactions to have them accurately reflected.

On the other hand, if you're referring to matching your QuickBooks balance with your bank balance, they don't have to match up. It's because the QuickBooks balance reflects all the transactions entered into the system, including those categorized entries. The other one is impacted only by transactions cleared in your bank. You can always consult your accountant for proper guidance in verifying the accuracy of your financial records, identifying any discrepancies, and taking corrective action when needed.

It is recommended to reconcile your accounts regularly, ideally every month, to maintain accurate financial records. This process helps ensure the accuracy of your records by identifying and correcting any discrepancies between QuickBooks and your bank.
