Import Expenses to QuickBooks Online

Hi there, cubascookin.adm.

QuickBooks Online International version doesn't have an option to import transactions. Here are the data that can be imported into QuickBooks Online.

  • Bank Data
  • Customers
  • Suppliers
  • Chart of Accounts
  • Products and Services

On the other hand, if you’d like to use a third party app to handle the importing transaction, we don't have any specific programs that we can recommend here. However, I wanted to point you to our App Center. This is where you can find all the third party applications that are sure to work with QuickBooks Online. There are a lot of different options in there, so you may find one that works for you.

Check out this page that has all our supported apps: QuickBooks Apps.

You may also send your feedback and product suggestion by going to the gear icon then select feedback. We have a product release every month and most of the enhancements come from the customer's feedback.

Feel free to visit us again if there's anything else you'd like to share, or if you need help with QuickBooks Online. Have a great day!

Import Expenses to QuickBooks Online

Hi Cuba,  You could look at some of the data import utilities that you can find in the Intuit App Center that do support import Purchase Transactions like Checks and Credit Card Purchases, Zed Axis one that I am the publisher of.

There is something very interesting in this reply. Quickbooks customers in the US want to import expenses, but apparently Intuit does not think that customers outside the US would like to have the same?

The USD 22.50 plan of Quickbooks in the US is exactly what I am paying outside the US in local currency. Why should I get less value for my money?

Thanks for joining in this thread, @MediPaper. I can share additional insights about importing expenses to Quickbooks Online International version.

You can upload expenses from your online banking account in a CSV (comma-separated values). Here's how:

  1. Log into your bank’s website.
  2. Follow the steps to download your transactions using CSV file format.
  3. Set the date range.
  4. Follow any on-screen instructions to finish the download.
  5. Save the file on your desktop folder.

Once done, reformat the file correctly. Here's an article to guide you with this process: Import bank transactions using Excel CSV files.

For future reference, read through this article: Common errors for importing bank transactions using CSV. It helps you learn about mapping and formatting your file to avoid any errors when importing them.

Get back to me here in the Community should you have additional questions, @MediPaper. I'm always around here to guide.

Appreciate the advertisement for purchasing an additional app. But the question remains why ex-US users don’t get the same value and tools as US users. I’d invite Intuit to answer that.

Thanks for getting back here, MediPaper.

I'd like to clarify some information. When it comes to importing transactions in QuickBooks Online, there is not much of a difference between the US and the international version.

You can check out these articles for reference:

Also, the third-party application suggested by Fiat Lux - ASIA, is an option if you don't want to import your data using Excel.

Hello there, @JIABoss.

Currently, importing expenses to QuickBooks Online (QBO) is not possible. However, you can input the transactions manually.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the +New button.
  2. Select Expense and enter the details.
  3. Verify and then click Save and Close.

Repeat the process above until you have entered all the transactions.

Additionally, you can look for a third-party application that allows you to link all the fields in the expense entry. We can go to our App store to find a particular application and get this done. I'll guide you on how.

  1. Go to Apps on the left side menu.
  2. Search for the app in the Find apps to streamline your work field.
  3. Look for an app that supports uploading expenses and other documents.

Another way is to go directly to this link: QuickBooks Apps.

I've included this article to help you export your report to Excel for more customization options in QuickBooks: Export your reports to Excel from QuickBooks Online.

You're always welcome to post again if you need further assistance importing transactions. We're available to help you at any time.

Why would quickbooks want to slow down the input of external data into their system? Don't you want users to be able to quickly get their data in before they can decide to switch to another platform?
