its been over a year since this post. Where's the toolkit for Mac? You charge $300 for the desktop app, but I can't import a standard CSV file from my bank because I have a Mac? I have to manually enter everything? Its 2020 and a lot of people use Macs. Get with the program Intuit!
I hear your sentiments, @dcs603.
Let me make it up to you by making sure you'll be able to import your file into QuickBooks.
Currently, QuickBooks for Mac tool kit is unavailable. As a workaround, you can import your data using the Intuit Interchange Format (.IIF) file format. These are ASCII text, TSV (Tab-Separated Value) files that QuickBooks uses to import or export lists or transactions.
It makes it easier to transfer data to and from different platforms to effectively manage your company data. This way, you don't have to enter them manually in QuickBooks.
Here's how to do it:
You can use this handy user guide for more importing tips: QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2020 User Guide.
Also, I recommend visiting our Firm of the Future site to keep up with the recent news and product enhancements.
Keep me posted if you have more questions about managing your file in QuickBooks. I'll be here to help.
I also spent the last few hours today and Saturday trying to do this, and it is ridiculous that there is not a workaround for desktop. I'm wondering if the older version allowed it and now that there is qb online they took it away. Just awful.
Thanks for getting back to us here, @warrenh.
I have some information about importing transactions including the class in QuickBooks Desktop. While you can only import lists in QBDT, you'll want to look for third-party applications that'll handle importing transactions. This way, you'll be able to include the class field.
To check for the available applications, please visit this link: QuickBooks Desktop Apps.
If you need help with other tasks in QBDT, you can browse for specific topics here and look for responses that fit your concern.
Let me know if you still have questions or concerns with invoices or QuickBooks. I'm always here to assist you. Take care and stay safe.
