QB is not importing 3.5 months of banking data from Suntrust....I've disconnected and reconnected several times to no avail. Anyone else have this issue?

I'm here to ensure you're able to import your 3.5 months' worth of Suntrust data to QuickBooks Online (QBO), @hello167. This way, you can keep your account updated and manage your transactions accordingly.

For the time being, there's no reported connection issue between Suntrust and the international version of QBO. Here are some of the possible reasons you're having trouble importing your transactions in QBO:

  • The bank is performing system maintenance.
  • There are notifications on your bank’s website that need your attention.

Before we begin, I'd like to verify if you've received any error messages while reconnecting Suntrust to QBO and/or importing your online banking data. I'd appreciate any further details so I can provide an accurate solution.

When your financial institution performs system maintenance, you can manually update your account. This refreshes the connection between your bank and the program. Let me guide you how.

  1. Go to the Banking or Transactions menu.
  2. Select  the blue tile for your credit card account.
  3. Click the Update button.
  4. (Optional) Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

I've attached a screenshot below that shows the first three steps.

Then, you'll have to sign in to the Suntrust website. This is to check your account page for messages or alerts that need your attention. Once you make changes on the website (i.e. login credentials and account info), you'll have to update QuickBooks as well. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking or Transactions menu.
  2. Select  the blue tile for your credit card account.
  3. Click the Edit icon.
  4. Choose either Edit sign-in info or Edit account info.
  5. Enter all the necessary details and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

I've attached a screenshot below that shows the first four steps.

Once your 3.5 months worth of banking data are downloaded, all you have to do is to review and/or match them to the existing entries in QuickBooks. For the step-by-step guide, kindly refer to this article: Categorise online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online. It also contains instructions about excluding personal and duplicate transactions.

However, in case you're still unable to connect the bank to the program, you can manually upload your transactions into QBO. You can refer to this article for the detailed steps: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, I'd also recommend reconciling your Suntrust account every month. This is to monitor your income, expenses and detect any possible errors accordingly. To learn more about this, you can refer to this article: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online. It includes information about editing completed reconciliations.

Let me know in the comments below if you have other banking concerns or inquiries about managing your transactions in QBO. I'm just around to help. Take care always.
