Why i can't import chart of account in qb ?

Welcome to the Community, userrossros11.

There are important notes we need to remember when importing a chart of accounts in QuickBooks Online.

  • The Type and Detail Type should match the types in QBO.  If not, you’ll get an error message in red and will need to change each line item manually.
  • The import limit is 2 MB or 1000 rows.
  • The colon character isn’t allowed, so parent:sub-account relationships will have to imported as parents first, then adjusted to become subs on the chart of accounts after the import is completed.
  • Make sure the headings in columns A-D are: Account Number, Account Name, Account Type and Detail Type.

Also, let's open your account and import your chart of account using a different browser. There are times that the browser stores frequently-accessed data, causing unusual behavior.

Let's try logging in to your QuickBooks Online account using a private or a different browser. Here's how:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N
  • Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + P

Then let's import your chart of account again. Once it works, you may need to clear the cache of the regular browser you're using. Clearing the cache or cookies is the best way to get a clean slate for your browser. Alternatively, you can use other compatible browsers. It could be that the one you're currently working on has a temporary issue with QuickBooks.

Let me know if you have additional questions about working in QBO. I'll be glad to answer them for you. Have a great rest of your day.
