Yes, you have the option to customize the names of your accounts in the Profit and Loss report. Allow me to guide you on how to do it, Noel.

The Chart of Accounts, is a comprehensive list of all the company's accounts and balances. You can edit the Unrealized gain/loss and Net income account to display with your preferred names when running the P&L report. To do so, follow the steps provided below:

  1. Navigate to Transactions and select Chart of accounts.
  2. Locate the account you'd like to edit.
  3. Under the Action column, select the Run report dropdown arrow  and select Edit.
  4. Make all desired changes and click Save and Close.

Once done, you can now proceed to add the number sequence to your Chart of Accounts. If you're referring to account numbers, you'll need to enable them in the the Accounts and settings before assigning them. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Account and settings.
  2. Select the Advanced tab.
  3. Select Edit in the Chart of accounts section.
  4. Turn on Enable account numbers. If you want account numbers to show in reports and transactions, select Show account numbers.
  5. Click Save and then Done.

For detailed guidance on how you can number your accounts, check out this article: Use Account Numbers in Your Chart of Accounts in QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, QuickBooks offers the option to make accounts inactive rather than deleting them, allowing you to retain access to past transactions. If you no longer intend to use an account, you can simply mark it inactive. For further reference, read this article: Make An Account Inactive on your Chart of Accounts in QuickBooks Online.

I'm just a message away if you have any other questions when customizing accounts in your reports. Have a great rest of the day!
