How to add job orders in QuickBooks along with estimation and invoice

Hello there, accounts! I'm here to assist you in achieving your task in QuickBooks.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), you can effectively manage job orders by utilizing the Project feature. This allows you to track your projects, create estimates for the work, and later convert them into invoices once the tasks are completed.

To get started, ensure that the Projects feature is enabled in your account. Here's how:

  1. Select Settings ⚙, then click Account and settings.
  2. Go to the Advanced tab.
  3. Find the Projects section and select Edit ✎ to expand it.
  4. Turn on Organise all job-related activity in one place.
  5. Click Save and then Done.

Once done, follow these steps to create a new project:

  1. Go to Business overview and select Projects.
  2. Click New project.
  3. In the Project name field, enter the project name.
  4. Select the project customer from the Customer ▼ drop-down list.
  5. Add any notes or details about the project in Notes.
  6. Click Save.

Next, proceed with step three of this article, Add new transactions to a project, which will guide you on creating estimates and converting them into invoices. Please note that this feature is available in QuickBooks Online Plus and Accountant versions. If you're using a lower version, consider upgrading your subscription or exploring third-party apps that support this functionality.

For greater flexibility, you can use progress invoicing to generate multiple invoices from a single estimate. This allows you to invoice for partial payments throughout the project instead of requesting full payment upfront.

If you require further assistance with QuickBooks, feel free to let me know. I'm more than willing to lend you a hand.
