Trial balance shows acct bal instead of YTD bal for all Current Liabilities accts. Tech support says "backend" database corrupted. Will a data export/reimport repair?

All other accounts in Trial balance are correct and every transaction in all accounts is correct.  Apparently some "internal" database became corrupted somehow as part of initial data import.  ~10k records, so manual data entry not feasible.  Will exporting all QBO data, wiping my account/creating a new company, and importing QBO data using QBO tools get me a "clean" database?

Hello, davek-comhartech.

Welcome to the Community. I'm here to share some information on how exporting and importing work and how you can fix data in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Importing and exporting data can help you fix the file in QuickBooks Online.

We can use the Export data feature to export reports/lists and non-posting transactions/attachment in your account. This allows you to download the data entered into your file to your local hard drive.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon on the top menu.
  2. Choose Export data.
  3. In the Reports tab, select the date range and choose the report you want to export.
  4. Click Export to Excel.
  5. Then, go to the Lists tab and select CustomersEmployees, and Suppliers, then tick Export to Excel.

Then, import the transactions. You can utilize the Banking page to do this. Here's how:

  1. Click on the Gear icon at the upper right.
  2. Under Tools, hit Import data.
  3. Select the type of data that you'd like to import.
  4. Click Browse to select a file to be imported.
  5. Tap on the Next button until finished.

See Common questions about importing data to QuickBooks Online article for more details about the importing process.

You can also use import the file even if it is not from your bank. You'll just have to ensure to convert the spreadsheet into a CSV file to upload it in QBO: Format CSV files in Excel to get bank transactions into QuickBooks.

When everything is all set, you'll want to check out these articles for guidance. These can walk you through the steps on how to categorize your transactions and reconcile your account flawlessly:
