Thank you for the details, Nicole.

Let's try to manually update your Paypal connection using a private window. This is to check if this is a browser-related issue.

Use the appropriate shortcut for the browser you're using:

  • Google Chrome: press CTRL + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press CTRL + Shift + P
  • Internet Explorer: press CTRL + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

Here's how to update the connection:

  1. Click Banking on the left pane.
  2. On the Banking page, select Update.
  3. If prompted, enter your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) credentials and select Continue update.

You can check this article if you encounter a bank error: https://community.intuit.com/articles/1769041.

If it works on a private window, go back to the regular browser, and clear the cache to boost the browser's performance: https://community.intuit.com/articles/1884697. You can also try to use a different browser.

If the same error persists, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks support to check the error further. Here's how:

  1. Click the Help icon.
  2. Click Contact us.
  3. Enter the error you're getting, then click Let's talk.
  4. Select Start an email.

I appreciate your patience on this. Please let me know if you need anything else.

Thank you for getting back to me, Nicole.

Disconnecting an account due to bank error might cause duplicates once you reconnect it. I recommend contacting our support first to check further.

If you want to proceed, follow these steps to disconnect Paypal:

1.Click Banking on the left pane, then Banking.
2. In the Account window, select Disconnect this account on save.
3. Select Save and close.

Could it be that I have two-factor authentication set to my paypal account, why it keeps disconnecting? There must be a way around that without turning it off...

Hi @HappyKarma,

Welcome to the Community. I'm here to provide some clarification about connecting PayPal in QuickBooks Online.

Currently, the PayPal connection is available only in QuickBooks Online (QBO) US and UK. Since you're using the Global/International version, the system automatically disconnects the account.

For now, I suggest using the workaround available. You can download your PayPal transactions from the bank's website, then manually upload them to QBO to keep track of your financial records.

Here's how:

  1. Log into your bank’s website and follow the steps to download your transactions using an acceptable file format.
  2. Set the date range and follow any on-screen instructions to finish the download.
  3. Reformat the file if necessary and save it on your desktop.
  4. Go to Banking from the left menu and select the Banking tab.
  5. Choose the blue tile for the PayPal account.
  6. Click File upload from the Update drop-down list or select Upload from file
  7. Choose Browse and select the downloaded file and click Next
  8. From the QuickBooks account drop-down menu, choose the PayPal account and click Next
  9. Match the columns on the file with the banking fields in QBO and choose Next.
  10. Select Let's go

After following the steps above, the transactions will flow to the For Review tab. From there, you can categorise and match them to the existing entries in the system. It helps ensure your financial records are accurate.

Please know that I'm just a post away if you have any other questions about using QuickBooks. Take care.
