I want to restore my data in Quickbooks (data is in QBM format)

Hello, @saraf R.

Let me explain to you some information about the QBM format and help walk you through the steps on how to restore your data in your account.

You can restore the data in QBM format if you're using QuickBooks Desktop. But if you don't have, you can utilize our trial version. Before doing that, make sure your computer meets minimum requirements, so you're able to download QuickBooks without any problem.

Here's how to download the trial version:

  1. Go to this link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/new-subscriptions/download-a-trial-of-quickbooks-d....
  2. Select a version, then download it.
  3. Complete the required information.

Once done, you can restore the data by following the steps below.

  1. In your QBDT account, go to File and select Open or Restore Company
  2. Pick Restore a portable file, then tap Next.
  3. Locate the postable company file (ex. SampleQBDTaccount.qbm), then hit Open
  4. Select Where do you want to restore the file, then select Next.
  5. Tap Save

For more information about the process, check out this article: Create and open portable company files in QuickBooks Desktop

After that, you're now able to move the data into your QuickBooks Online. Please note that not all of your lists and reports will be converted to your QBO because of feature differences. Also, ensure that the company file isn’t too big to export.

Here's how to move the file to QBO:

  1. Log in as admin, then go to Company, and choose Export Company File to QuickBooks Online.
  2. Tap Start your export.
  3. In the Choose online company drop-down arrow, select the QBO name, then hit Continue
  4. Type Agree, then choose Replace
  5. Pick Yes, go ahead and replace the data, then elect to Replace

You can run a profit and loss report, then set as an accrual basis for both QBDt and QBO to make sure your books match. For QBDT Enterprise, visit this article for the detailed steps: Move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online

@saraf R

Which QB Desktop version you have? US or UK?

Keep in mind, you are only able migrate QBD US file to QBO US version and QBD UK file to QBO UK. You need other method migrating data to QBO India.
