How to remove the device remotely

I have 2 PCs that crashed. I installed QB desktop on new PC but cannot register the program as its telling me i have too many devices for my subscription (I think my limit is 2). There is no clear way to resolve this using the online portal. The message says 'call QB' but no one ever answers and I'm hold forever. This a major problem as I now without any accounting package for which I am licensed. Help please.

Let's perform some troubleshooting steps, so you can register the program seamlessly.

 

Before doing so, QuickBooks Desktop is designed to work with specific system requirements to ensure compatibility, and prevent system related issues when using the program.

Since you're having trouble registering your QBDT to a new computer, we can download the QuickBooks Tool Hub. This tool helps fix common errors when installing QBDT.

 

  1. Download Quickbooks Tool Hub file.
  2. Open the downloaded file (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  3. Follow the on-screen instruction to agree to the terms and conditions.
  4. After the installation process, open the application by double-clicking the file icon on your desktop.

 

Once done, use the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool. Here's how:

 

  1. Open the QuickBooks Tool Hub.
  2. In the tool hub, select Installation Issues.
  3. Select QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool. Let the tool run. It can take up to 20 minutes.
  4. When the tool finishes, restart your computer.

I've got your back, @ADR Ottawa.

 

You can manually activate your QuickBooks Desktop after installing it. To do so, refer to these steps:

 

  1. Go to the Help menu, choose Activate QuickBooks Desktop/ Register QuickBooks.
  2. After you enter your business phone and Postcode, Intuit will detect your copy of QuickBooks was already registered and will record the registration info for the new computer. Note: If you reinstall QuickBooks on a computer where it was previously registered, you won't have to register again. QuickBooks will detect your copy of QuickBooks was already registered and won’t prompt you to register.

If the issue persists, I highly recommend getting in touch with our technical support team. They can pull up your account in a secure place and register it for you. To connect with them, please follow these easy steps:

  1. Head to the Contact support page at this link.
  2. Choose QuickBooks Desktop
  3. Click on Search for something else and enter Cannot register QuickBooks Desktop in the search box.
  4. Hit Search.
  5. Select Start a Message.

No this does NOT work. I have done it 10X AT LEAST, even after installing and running the QB Toolhub. The problem is the system detects too many devices that exceed my licence. I will repeat: the system detects too many devices that exceed my licence. This has to be resolved on the back end at QB. That is what I keep trying to say and no one is listening and no one answers the phone when you call and the chat line does not work. For goodness sake, this is a NIGHTWARE experience dealing with you people. Every other software company I have ever dealt with on similar issues resolves these things in 5 minutes. I depend on this accounting to run my business and I HAVE NO ACCOUNTING SOFTWARE now! It is beyond brutal trying to get this issue resolved. I am wasting hours and hours of my own valuable time on something that you people should have resolved or provide an easy way for the customer, e.g. to log into their account and remove devices. How hard would that be? But no, QB doesn't offer that for inexplicable reasons.
