Thanks for the update, @guus.
The error 404 in QuickBooks Online (QBO) means the web page you want to open couldn't be found on the server. This is an unusual behavior of the system while making changes to your Chart of Accounts (COA). You're able to resolve and isolate the said error by performing some troubleshooting steps.
You can first press the F5 key on your keyboard to refresh the page or URL. When you're still unable to use the URL, you can open your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account using a private browser (incognito). Here's how:
Once done, access the URL. If you're able to open the link, return to your default browser and clear its cache and cookies. This will remove older data that causes viewing and performance issues. However, if the issue persists, I'd recommend using other supported browsers.
In case the problem continues, I'd recommend manually reclassifying your transactions in your Chart of Accounts. For the step-by-step guide, kindly check out this article's Step 2 section: Reclassify and move multiple transactions. It also contains instructions about reclassifying by location and the answers to the most frequently asked questions about the topic.
Additionally, I'd also recommend reconciling your accounts from your COA every month. This is to effectively monitor your income, expenses, and the growth of your business. You can refer to this article for the complete details: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online. It also includes details about editing completed reconciliations.

Hi Rea_M,
Thanks for quick response.
I tried your suggestions but no luck.
I realise that this was a more or less 'undocumented feature' meant for use by Accountants and not for the casual users. However, it found it a very useful tool when we did the re-design of our CoA. We have some further changes to the CoA and wanted to use it again.
I followed your other suggestion, to do it by individual transaction.
In one of the comments on a YouTube video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fU4jLbckpN8) I read that the Reclassify Tool could only be available in the US. if so, would you be able to confirm?
Kind Regards,
Guus
You’re correct, @guus.
The Reclassify transaction tool option is only available in QuickBooks Online Accountant. This feature will help you change multiple transactions or move them to a different account. It is also available in other country or region.
As long as you’re using QuickBooks Online Accountant, you’ll be able to use this tool.
I’ve added an article for more information about the reclassify transaction tool and what are the types of transactions you can’t move: Reclassify or move multiple transactions.
