Reverse Charge Ireland

Dear All,

I followed up on this again today and there is still no resolution. Thanks to all the earlier contributors.

I was advised that  "The reverse charge for Ireland is still not set up on all accounts, the engineers are working on the VAT rate added, for the time being use GOV advise"

I replied back  "When do you expect to resolve this? The last entry in the link (this link) was November. Getting these wrong involves hefty penalties. Gov advice is to do it correctly so I need QB to be able to handle this."

Finally, I was advised that "It is a working progress, our engineers are aware of it. You will be updated via email when it has been resolved, sorry for the inconvenience this may be causing"

Will someone in QB please escalate this asap or advise customers otherwise.

Regards

Thanks for the update John. I can’t believe that they are saying ‘it is a work in progress’ – they advertised it here as able to handle Irish Vat and it plainly is not. I am so annoyed as I spent hours online looking for help only to be told on more than one occasion to use the RCS rate – plainly wrong advice so their help is of no use. I was given links to the UK vat set up and, bizarrely, to an inland revenue site explaining the concept of vat in the UK. It might come in useful if I ever decide to move to the UK but is of absolutely no use to me now as I am resident in Ireland and am well familiar with Irish vat.

While I was using the desktop version of Quickbooks I would have given it a customer satisfaction rating of 100% - the online version is most certainly 0% and falling fast.

Hi all,

What is the estimated time of arrival for Domestic Reverse Charge codes for construction activities in QBO Ireland?

Please do not reply with answer/solution for QBO UK as that is a different jurisdiction.

After reading al the posts in relation to Irish domestice reverse charge, specifically in relation to the construction sector can anyone advise if there has been an update on this considering the current date.

Is it a thing where we have to essentially enter the invoice at 0% and "adjust" the VAT return at time of filing to record the increased VAT, T1 & T2  (total VAT on all reverse charge sub-contractors in the period)?

Reverse Charge Ireland

Hi there, Rach45.

As of the moment, the VAT domestic reverse charge for QuickBooks Online in this region (Ireland) remains unavailable.

I can see how important it is to get updates regarding this feature, particularly when dealing with purchases and sales that are subject to the VAT domestic reverse charge for building and construction services. You can explore and use third-party apps that handle VAT domestic reverse charges that can also be integrated with QuickBooks Online.

These third-party apps can help automate the process of using reverse charge VAT codes, tracking the necessary information, and generating accurate reports for compliance purposes.

If you still need further information about VAT codes, you can check out this article: VAT: Getting started.

Feel free to leave a comment below for any follow-up questions or other concerns about VAT codes. I'll be here to assist. Have a wonderful day!

So intuit recommend looking for a 3rd party app in their app store (none exist).

You'ld be as well off r3commendind Sage, Xero, Big Red Cloud, Billet HQ.

You're a moron, and you're offering for Ireland is falling well short at this stage.

SO FRUSTRATING

Let's make sure VAT rate settings are configured correctly, Derek111. Allow me to provide input about this.

In QuickBooks Online, there are several reasons why reverse charge VAT rates aren't visible when creating transactions. You can review the following below under your VAT section:

  • Specific VAT is off.
  • VAT is deleted or inactive.
  • The VAT tax rate setup is incorrect.

Please ensure these setups are enabled so reverse charge rates will be available and applied to your transactions. To do this:

  1. In your QBO account, go to VAT from the menu panel.
  2. Find and review the reverse charge rate.
  3. Make sure rates are enabled and active and that the setup is correct.

I've also included a screenshot below for reference.

Moreover, here's a guide that you can utilize to help you file taxes and payments: File your VAT return and record VAT payments in QuickBooks Online.

If there's anything else you need additional assistance with managing your taxes, feel free to let me know in this thread. Keep safe.
