Re: OFFICE HOURS ARE OPEN! Strategic Planning, Lead Generation, and More!

I need to figure out a game plan on how to separate myself from working my contracts and just focus on the business part of my company. Right now I'm stuck, I truly don't know what direction to go. My capital is my business capital which is suffering. I feel like I'm more of a independent contractor then a business owner.

Hi Julie!

I really want to focus in on my social media marketing strategy but I don't want to live on my social media pages. What is the best way to create a simple but effective strategy? I want to build momentum but how do I get the people who share my content to come back and engage?

Thanks Julie!

Are you on your way to QBC? Great conference, sorry to be missing it this year.

My week is a huge catch-up game, but getting things done.

Hi @JulieatTheWELL it's been a productive albeit stressful week. I don't know how we are approaching the end of September already, but I'm very excited to move past October 15th!! The following day I have seminar to lead for QBO and then I am free of any and all major deadlines. I'm looking forward to sitting down with my father after this time and charting a new course for this business! I know there are many improvements that we can make to maximize our potential; mainly by improving our workflows and actually addressing our lack of marketing.

Safe travels Smiley Very Happy

Welcome to M2$1M @Nolan28 and so glad you jumped in!!  So to be clear, you engage a new client and then you deliver the work instead of a team member? Also, please tell me a bit more about what you do, how many on your team if any, and we can go from there. Standing by... P.S. Without knowing more, I am feeling a lead generation issue, but I will wait... Smiley Happy

Re: OFFICE HOURS ARE OPEN! Strategic Planning, Lead Generation, and More!

Hey @ElaineTay-TGW!  The best time spent on social media is:

1) Inviting your ideal client to a private FB group

2) Running ads to grow that FB group

3) Posting and doing FB Lives 2 - 3 times a week to stimulate thought but NOT to fix things

4) Then invite them for a consultation or conversation once a week or so

That's it!! Posting on on your business page hoping to get engagement is not a winning strategy! Even with a couple of thousand follows, you can still have crickets, so be strategic and instead of building fans... build a pipeline!! #leadsnotlikes!

Make sense?

Nope, not yet @LeahIlanah! QB Connect is the first of November, so you still have time! Finish your catch-up and then book your trip! Smiley Happy

Re: OFFICE HOURS ARE OPEN! Strategic Planning, Lead Generation, and More!

I know this time of year is stressful for accountants @Peter_G_Stone, so way to remain productive in spite of!

Regarding your meeting with your dad when the dust settles, it may feel a little formal, but what do you think about creating an agenda to ensure that the big ideas and difficult topics are discussed and not inadvertently lost?  These meetings of the minds can be awesome, creative, and/or difficult, so an agenda can set the course and ensure a fruitful experience.  Also, if you want to create it and share for feedback, I would be happy to help...

What do you think?

Re: OFFICE HOURS ARE OPEN! Strategic Planning, Lead Generation, and More!

Yes, sure I own a small healthcare staffing agency, so my clients are different facilities example nursing homes, clinics, smaller rural hospitals. Yes, so if someone emails or call me needing a Nurse aide, or nurses I have to try to fill that need. as of now I'm just contracting myself. I have no employees and the money that I generate from working have to go on regular expenses. I have only one office worker that help me with bringing clients in sealing the deals, did my website, and look over contracts and invoices for me. So, yes I need help.

@Nolan28, Got it. You have 2 clients - the healthcare facilities and a nursing team. What are you doing to bring in nursing staff? Are you concerned about overhead, and if so, can you bring them in as contractors? You are right - you have to STOP working IN the business or you will not be able to grow it. If your personal needs require that you keep the income, consider 1) raising your rates if the market will bear it and 2) try securing a small working capital loan (QuickBooks and PayPal have great programs) to get you over the hump.

Are either one of these options for you? If not, I will add a few more... Smiley Happy  Keep the faith!

Julie,

Yes, correct. To get employee's I have been using Facebook, and indeed. I been using the option of letting the client choose if they want to be a independent contractor or employee. That was next on my todo list, to raise contracting prices. I think I'm going to take your advice on getting a small working capital loan and stop working the business so that I can see growth within my company.

Thank you so much Julie appreciate the information.

Re: OFFICE HOURS ARE OPEN! Strategic Planning, Lead Generation, and More!

@Nolan28 Sales and/or capital can solve most problems! You have to get a "staff bench" in place so when the contracts come in, you are not tempted to do the work yourself. I love tha you are going to also increase your rates because I want you to PAY YOURSELF FIRST so you will be further willing to forgo doing the work.

I know it feels like a chicken or the egg type issue, so if you can bring in capital so you can let others do the work and also pay your expenses, before you know it, you will be back on track!

One more thing - where else can you identify nurses without spending money on ads? Indeed is a great strategy, but can be expensive. Is there an association you can tap into?

Keep me posted and tag me with questions @nolan28 because I'm here every day to help! J

Re: OFFICE HOURS ARE OPEN! Strategic Planning, Lead Generation, and More!

Hi @JulieatTheWELL:

I would love to tell you I pushed all my normal duties away and jumped head on to this, but NO! Wah!  I did do one step, but want to implement so much more of what we spoke about before Q4 is over.  But what I did accomplish is:

  1. I did type up my notes from your amazing Live event  (well, dictated into a Google doc) and then put it in logical order.
  2. Had a webinar on how wonderful it is to work with attorneys as clients, sponsored by the app Lean Law, today.
  3. I wrote an article on being mentored by a younger person  (right @ParkwayInc ? ) for Intuit's  Firm of the Future blog

That sleep thing and meditation thing is still in the works!

I consider this a winning update @lynda!! Now if I can only get you to try that meditation... is a bribe required? Smiley Wink
