Each week, we sync SalesVu with QuickBooks in order to import the transactions and match them to the credit card batch deposits in our bank feed. Each transaction is supposed to have sales tax included, however, for some reason, there seems to have been a glitch in the syncing between QuickBooks and SalesVu for thousands of transactions that occurred back in January/February and part of March. In these transactions, the sales tax payment does not show once they sync over to QuickBooks. So for several thousand transactions, the sales tax remains unpaid, so we have thousands of transactions with small open balances in our QuickBooks A/R account. This has caused our Quickbooks balance to be over $30,000 SHORT of our actual bank balance. In other words, QuickBooks thinks that people still owe us sales tax. But they don't.</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>We include sales tax in the prices of our items. Normally, when a transaction is synced over, QuickBooks can see that sales tax was included in the price of the items that were purchased and the number is automatically calculated as sales tax.<BR /><BR />The only way I've found to solve this problem is to go into our A/R account in QuickBooks, click an invoice for a transaction where tax was not applied, select "Sales Tax 7.5%" from the tax dropdown, and click save. The transaction is now paid in full, and our A/R balance is now slightly more correct (less negative). The problem with doing it this way is that there are <EM>thousands</EM> of transactions. It would take weeks to go through and select the correct sales tax for each one. Can anyone think of an easier/faster way to do this? Can I somehow credit A/R for a large amount to make our balance correct? The old pin pad we had was working fine for 6 years or so, connected to an HP desktop. That Windows 7 Pro desktop had originally been running QB POS Pro 2013, before we upgraded to QB POS Pro v18 last year.&nbsp; Other than not being able to use the chip slot, the old non-EMV ready&nbsp; iPP350 was working normally. When we received the 2 EMV-ready pin pads, both stop responding after a while (it seems due to inactivity, usually at some point overnight) when connected to that same computer. They both end up getting stuck on "This Lane Closed". The only thing that reliably gets them to work again is restarting the computer. In the process of trying to eliminate this problem, I've switched computers twice (to a different HP and a Dell, both running Windows 10). I've checked USB power settings in the bios, in the OS, etc. The only real clue I have is that they seem to "freeze" or stop responding over night, it doesn't seem to happen in the middle of the day when there's store traffic. The POS computer is left powered on all the time. Lastly, Intuit POS support even sent 2 additional EMV-ready pin pads to replace the 2 new ones they had just sent. But nothing has helped.</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>So, I've swapped computers twice, I've tried 4 different EMV-ready pin pads. They all stop responding and get stuck on "This Lane Closed".</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>I can't be the only one experiencing this issue? I recently was asked by a client to set up Full Service Payroll for them, integrated with their QBO file.&nbsp; I admit that I had not previously worked with Intuit payroll integrated with QBO, though I have years of experience with QB Payroll integrated with QB Desktop.&nbsp; I am a QB ProAdvisor and have worked with QBD since it was version 2.0!&nbsp; My background as a CPA working with small business clients means that I am well versed in payroll issues.&nbsp; Never did it occur to me that the setup of a simple client payroll could be so fraught with errors.&nbsp; Our first payroll was to run on 7/31/19.&nbsp; This is a client with only 12 employees running payroll semi-monthly.&nbsp; We required Reg pay, OT pay, Holiday pay at 1.5x Reg rate and reimbursement for employee mileage.&nbsp; I sent all documentation to Intuit for payroll setup a full 10 days prior to the date payroll was required to run again.&nbsp; Intuit did not even touch it until two days before the payroll had to run in order to pay the employees timely.&nbsp; I set up all of the following information: employee name, address, birth date, SSN, hire date and Reg pay rates.&nbsp; I sent them all prior detail payroll information, including the MN Unemployment rate that was received by the client from the state agency.&nbsp; The first problem is with the initial setup.&nbsp; Intuit came back to me with an email stating that we had overpaid our MN Unemployment for Q2.&nbsp; The Q2 MN UE return was filed and the payment initiated by the prior payroll provider.&nbsp; We in fact did NOT overpay MN Unemployment.&nbsp; Intuit set up the MN UE rate incorrectly, resulting in the erroneous over payment email from them.&nbsp; I had to inform them of this error and it took me a fair amount of time to get the support rep on the phone to believe me that I was correct and that they set up the MN UE rate incorrectly.&nbsp; The next thing that happened is we received an error message when trying to process the first payroll.&nbsp; The error stated that our direct deposit limits were too low and that we could not process our payroll.&nbsp; They had all the information regarding our previous payrolls, so why did Intuit set the direct deposit limits too low to begin with?!!&nbsp; And of course, since Intuit did not begin the payroll setup until 2 days prior to when we had to run payroll we were in a time crunch to get payroll run.&nbsp; My client called me and I called Intuit to figure out what could be done and their recommendation was to pay the payroll with manual checks!&nbsp; Are you kidding?!!&nbsp; Apparently, Intuit thinks that it's okay to fail in their setup and require an employer to pay their employees with manual checks when the employees are accustomed to and expect having the funds in their account immediately on pay day!&nbsp; I informed the rep that manual checks were NOT an option and I expected them to figure out how to get direct deposit set up to work for this payroll.&nbsp; They finally agreed to reach out to the Direct Deposit Limit team to find out why our DD Limit was set too low.&nbsp; I was then told that it was too low because we had not complied with their request to send them six months of bank statements.&nbsp; Guess what - no one ever asked for ANY bank statements!&nbsp; So basically, the setup team or the DD Limit team never requested information that was required to run our direct deposit payroll timely and then they tried to blame me and/or my client for not complying with a request they never made!&nbsp; Fortunately, even though I was mobile, I was able to access and send them the required bank statements and have the owner of the company send through his approval along with a copy of his driver's license in order to get the DD Limit increased so we could run the 7/31/19 payroll as direct deposits.&nbsp; So now I am thinking, perhaps we are over the setup pain with Intuit payroll.&nbsp; Guess again!&nbsp; The manager of the company went to run the 8/15/19 payroll (on 8/13/19) and once again we were hit with an error message that our DD Limit was too low.&nbsp; Once again, I had to spend hours on a support call to QBO Full Service Payroll to get the DD Limit increased - even though there was no change in our payroll, either in hours or employees!!&nbsp; At the time that I was on the phone with them for this problem, I also asked the support rep why they had not withdrawn the funds for MN withholding for our 7/15/19 payroll (which was due to the state of MN on 8/15/19), even though we had been told via email that Intuit would be remitting that payment.&nbsp; The answer came back that Intuit expected us to make that payment manually, yet that was NEVER communicated to us.&nbsp; We were NOT told that we were to make that payment manually.&nbsp; I was again put on hold and the rep came back to me and told me that Intuit would be making that payment and that it would be made timely.&nbsp; Note – at that time I could have initiated the payment manually and it would have been paid timely.&nbsp; As of 9/11/19 Intuit still has not initiated that payment to MN Revenue; it has not cleared my client's bank account and it has not posted to the MN Revenue website.&nbsp; And Intuit has not notified us that we are to remit that payment manually.&nbsp; So we have a late payment and I have no assurance that Intuit will pay the resulting penalties and interest, even though we are signed up for Full Service Payroll.&nbsp; Now we are trying to run the 9/13/19 payroll and come to find out that Holiday Pay is not set up correctly in QBO.&nbsp; Apparently, when you choose Holiday Pay as a pay item it does not pay out at 1.5x regular pay which is a common occurrence in the payroll world.&nbsp; Instead, I am told it is like PTO or Vacation Pay - yet nowhere is that information obvious, nor has that ever been communicated to me - until we go to run payroll and find that it is not calculating properly.&nbsp; Apparently, we must set up a new pay item called Holiday 1.5 and add that to each individual employee AND we have to manually calculate and fill in the 1.5x rate for them as the system won't even calculate it for you!&nbsp; How stupid is that!!&nbsp; I called Full Service Payroll to get this issue fixed and guess how much time that took?&nbsp; I was on hold for 30 minutes waiting for a response, and I also opened a chat box.&nbsp; The chat box activated about 30 minutes after I opened it, so I went with chat support rather than phone support.&nbsp; Almost 4 hours later that problem is finally solved.&nbsp; Then I began asking about the MN withholding payment that still has not been made and 1.5 hours later I am finally told that I have to make the payment manually for my client and that we will have to submit a request to Intuit to pay any resulting penalties and interest expense.&nbsp; In addition, I had elected to be billed by Intuit for my client's payroll processing and I would in turn bill my client.&nbsp; Thus, my credit card was associated with the payroll billing for my client.&nbsp; Apparently, my credit card was compromised (not sure how or why or by whom) and my credit card company sent me a new card.&nbsp; Intuit knew that my card on file was no longer valid before I had even received my new card in the mail and I had NOT been notified by my credit card company that a new card was forthcoming.&nbsp; So what did Intuit do? &nbsp;Intuit notified my client that their payroll services were on hold because my card was invalid.&nbsp; I was the one who set up the payroll for my client through my QBO Accountant website.&nbsp; I was the one that had contacted the Full Service payroll team to get the setup done and when there is a problem with <STRONG>my credit card</STRONG> - they notify <STRONG>my client</STRONG> and <STRONG>NOT ME</STRONG>!!&nbsp; I would like to know who at Intuit is in charge of the Full Service Payroll setup team and who is in charge of the DD Limit team (who I am told is NOT client facing) and who is in charge of reaching out to their customers when a credit card is not valid.&nbsp; Because NONE of them are doing their job properly or in a way that is any way, shape or form encourage me to recommend Intuit services to my clients.&nbsp; I have voiced my concern with countless support reps and requested a phone call back from someone with authority at Intuit to discuss the poor service that I have experienced, and though I was promised a call back from someone in authority, to date that has not happened.&nbsp; In the last two months, I estimate that I have wasted no less than 24 hours on support calls related to this one client regarding their Intuit Full Service payroll setup.&nbsp; I could have manually calculated their payroll and initiated their tax payments in less time than I have wasted on support calls with Intuit Full Service Payroll.&nbsp; And I can tell you that I am heartily sick up and prone to vomiting every time I am forced to once again listen to their horrible hold music.&nbsp; So now you know why I do NOT recommend that anyone use QBO Full Service Payroll!!&nbsp; And, although I have been a QB ProAdvisor for many years and have defended Intuit accounting software as a quality product in the past, I am now forced to reconsider if there may be a more professional cloud accounting software to use, rather than Intuit.&nbsp; <P>enterprise 20.0</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>Turned on advanced inventory recently. Now when I go to enter a bill, receive items or write a check to a vendor and the list of available POs pops up it contains many dozens of old POs for that vendor, all of which have been closed out long ago. It goes back for years. I think they are all POs that were closed manually and not all items on the po were received. They are definitely all still closed. <P><SPAN>We just switched from using ConnectWise with Avatax to QuickBooks with Avatax. With CW, an invoice numbered 5555 would show up with doc code of 5555 in Avatax. With QB, we see there's some kind of prefix on the doc code now... for example, a test invoice we just did was invoice 6550, but shows with doc code in avatax as "291EC-[removed]-6550". The invoice is at the end, but what is the "291EC-[removed]" that it is prefixed with? and can that be disabled so that just the invoice number is in the doc code.</SPAN></P><P>&nbsp;</P><P><SPAN>I contacted Avalara support, and their answer was:&nbsp;</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>--</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>Avatax posts the transactions with the data that is sent to us, so QB is sending us the document code in that format.<BR />I have seen other QB customers with this same format, (seems challenging to reconcile) however there are others that have more of a, "INV123456," type of format too although this is not something you would be able to perform in Avatax, this would be something to look into on the QB side.<BR />I would refer to Intuit support or even their online support forum, I bet you are not the first one to ask this question!</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>--</SPAN></P><P>&nbsp;</P><P><SPAN>So... that's the question... Some of these will be sold individually, but the majority of them will be bundled into groups of three into kits that are then sold with the aforementioned fittings and sprinkler heads as one item.</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>My instinct is to add the individual pots as a non-inventory asset, and then have a separate inventory item (Pot-Inv) that is also a single pot so if somebody purchases a single we increase the inventory of Pot-Inv by 1 and have the cost of goods subtract money from the non-inventory asset account.&nbsp; Similarly, adding a kit into inventory should decrease the value of the non-inventory assets by the cost of the pots, fittings, and sprinklers.</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>However, when I'm trying to set up our inventory items in Quickbooks Online, my only options for the cost account is either Cost of Goods Sold or Inventory Shrinkage.&nbsp; How can I link the non-inventory assets to these inventory items?</P>

It happens often - if we copy directly from a Sales Order it won't happen, it only happens when we enter prices directly into a PO. <P>We have had some updates on cost of an inventory product.&nbsp; We changed the cost and it changed all the historical prices as well. I've read that inventory items do not change historical, but when the cost changed, I pulled a transaction detail report on the product for the year and all has been changed to the new updated cost.&nbsp; We definitely did not want that.</P><P>I don't know if I have to go manually update thousands of costs for all the previous invoices or is there a way to fix it? How can I update the cost without it it affecting the previous cost?</P>

<P>There is a bug in:</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P><STRONG><EM>Account and Settings</EM>-&gt;<EM>Advanced</EM>-&gt;<EM>Accounting</EM>-&gt;<EM>Close the books&nbsp;</EM></STRONG></P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>The overall symptom is that a previously-entered Closing date password simply does not work. For severity, I'd usually class this as <EM>Critical</EM>, however since an admin is able to remove or change the Closing date password without actually knowing what it is, I'd downgrade to merely <EM>Serious</EM>.</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>It's in the way the password is handled if the field just above Password is set to <EM>"Allow changes after viewing a warning and entering password"</EM>. So,&nbsp;I entered a new password, and it was accepted without complaint, but it was then subsequently not accepted when I needed to use it to make a pre-close-date edit. I checked it several times with various different passwords and was able to be sure it was not entry error on my part.</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>I think I've tracked it down to the following:</P><P>&nbsp;</P><OL><LI>For creation purposes, the Closing date password appears to have a length limit of 16 characters</LI><LI>If a string of greater than 16 characters is entered when creating the password,&nbsp;it is<EM><STRONG>&nbsp;truncated</STRONG></EM> to 16 characters</LI><LI>That truncation occurs <STRONG>silently</STRONG>; i.e. no warning or error is provided to the user. Also, neither the length limit, nor the truncation&nbsp;are made clear to the user at the point of entry (nor, as far as I could find, are they documented anywhere)&nbsp;</LI><LI>The result is that a Closing password may be different from what the user reasonably believes it to be</LI><LI>Subsequent evaluation of the Closing date password when provided&nbsp;to the password challenge -- i.e. while attempting a pre-close-date edit -- appears to take into consideration <STRONG>all characters,</STRONG> even those beyond the 16th character position&nbsp;</LI><LI>As a result, if the same greater-than-16-character string that was provided to create the Closing date password in the first place is then provided to the password challenge&nbsp;while attempting a pre-close-date edit, <STRONG>authentication fails.</STRONG></LI></OL><P>Notes:</P><OL><LI>The very attentive user may notice that the number of character masking dots that appear in the field to create the password never exceeds 16, while the number that appear in the field to enter the password on challenge can. However, &nbsp;as an indicator of the fact that truncation is happening at the point of creation, the number of masking dots is neither sufficiently clear, nor even, these days, reliable</LI><LI>The fact that on later revisiting the password creation field the number of masking dots displayed is the <STRONG><EM>same as the number of characters in the password</EM></STRONG> (up to a max of 16) is not good practice since it provides some information about the password to a viewer. In this case, admin authentication must already have been provided to be able to see the field, so the risk is probably low here. However, in general it may be better to use a standard number of dots after the password has been successfully entered. For example, the 1Password tool uses ten dots regardless of the length of the underlying password.</LI></OL><P>&nbsp;</P><P>&nbsp;</P>

<P>We use QuickBooks Online for our restaurant accounting, and we sync it with a point-of-sale program called SalesVu. Each week, we sync SalesVu with QuickBooks in order to import the transactions and match them to the credit card batch deposits in our bank feed. Each transaction is supposed to have sales tax included, however, for some reason, there seems to have been a glitch in the syncing between QuickBooks and SalesVu for thousands of transactions that occurred back in January/February and part of March. In these transactions, the sales tax payment does not show once they sync over to QuickBooks. So for several thousand transactions, the sales tax remains unpaid, so we have thousands of transactions with small open balances in our QuickBooks A/R account. This has caused our Quickbooks balance to be over $30,000 SHORT of our actual bank balance. In other words, QuickBooks thinks that people still owe us sales tax. But they don't.</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>We include sales tax in the prices of our items. Normally, when a transaction is synced over, QuickBooks can see that sales tax was included in the price of the items that were purchased and the number is automatically calculated as sales tax.<BR /><BR />The only way I've found to solve this problem is to go into our A/R account in QuickBooks, click an invoice for a transaction where tax was not applied, select "Sales Tax 7.5%" from the tax dropdown, and click save. The transaction is now paid in full, and our A/R balance is now slightly more correct (less negative). The problem with doing it this way is that there are <EM>thousands</EM> of transactions. It would take weeks to go through and select the correct sales tax for each one. Can anyone think of an easier/faster way to do this? Can I somehow credit A/R for a large amount to make our balance correct? Please help!</P>

<P>My client posted a journal entry to transfer funds from an investment account (Other Current Asset account) to a checking account (Bank account) and from Class A to Class B using the following:</P><P>Debit to checking account and Class B</P><P>Credit to investment account and Class A</P><P>This resulted in unbalanced classes at the bottom of the Balance Sheet by Class report.&nbsp; I spent a couple of hours over the weekend researching online how to fix this and could not readily find a workaround.&nbsp; On Monday, I spent another hour and a half on the phone with QB support who also could not offer a resolution.&nbsp; This is what I finally came up with.&nbsp; I wanted to share it in case it will help someone else or perhaps to see if someone else has a better solution.</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>What I found is that using multiple Balance Sheet accounts and multiple Classes in a journal entry in the manner above is an unsupported transactions which will result in the unbalanced classes at the bottom of the Balance Sheet by Class report.&nbsp; I also found that if I ran the transfer in and out of an Income or Expense account (for example, Miscellaneous Income or Miscellaneous Expense) as a sort of clearing account, the unbalanced classes went away and I achieved the desired result in the checking account and the investment account as well as in Class A and Class B.&nbsp; Here's what the entry looked like:</P><P>Debit to checking account and Class B</P><P>Credit to Income or Expense account of your choice and Class B</P><P>Credit to investment account and Class A</P><P>Debit to same Income or Expense account used above and Class A</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>Let me know if you've had the same issue and have a better solution.&nbsp; I would be grateful for any feedback you have to offer.</P><P>&nbsp;</P>

<P>I just updated a client's QuickBooks 2015&nbsp; to QuickBooks 2018.&nbsp; Once it opened I received a pop up saying:&nbsp; Intuit Payroll Service - "Now that you have upgraded, QuickBooks must go on line to verify the status of your payroll subscription"&nbsp; When I click "OK" I get a WARNING stating: "The file you specified cannot be opened.&nbsp; Make sure that it is not currently being used by another program or a read-only file.&nbsp; The windows error was 'The file exists.".&nbsp; BEHIND this message is a window saying: "Working - QuickBooks is updating files.&nbsp; Please wait"&nbsp; and there is a bar indicating the percentage of completion.</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>*&nbsp; The file is NOT being used by another program.</P><P>*&nbsp; The file is NOT a 'read-only' file as I confirmed that by checking the file's properties.</P><P>*&nbsp; The percentage bar is NOT changing even after I have let it sit for over an hour.</P><P>*&nbsp; I use this same QUICKBOOKS 2018 program for other clients and have NEVER had this issue.</P><P>*&nbsp; The QuickBooks 2018 program will NOT let me shut it down without doing a hard reboot (using the task manager).</P><P>*&nbsp; I've run the QuickBooks fix-it doctor to no avail!!!&nbsp; And remember it is ONLY for this one client's file that was working perfectly in QuickBooks 2015.</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>WHAT do I need to do?!?!?&nbsp; I've a client's tax stuff that needs to be done 'yesterday' and now I have this issue!!!&nbsp; Grrrrrrr!&nbsp; Who can help me get this kink fixed ASAP?</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>Thanks!!!</P>

<P>So we currently have 8 windows computers. We have QB Enterprise Silver. We have a windows server in the back office that we use to host the company files and data.&nbsp;</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>We want to know if we can download QuickBooks desktop for mac and what features we would lose out on compared to the enterprise silver. We do NOT want to use QB Enterprise with hosting for a few reasons:</P><P>1. They are charging way too much for it as I have my own server and can setup a RDP.</P><P>2. I don't understand how if everything is logging into the same server how they can have 1 application open with 9 different people logged in to that same computer trying to work on the same file. That means there will have to be 9 server environments if that is what they mean to say. Very unclear how it works.&nbsp;</P><P>3. If we are using a RDP to login to that computer I wont have access to exporting to email pdf the invoice etc.&nbsp;</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>POTENTIAL Suggestion: &nbsp;I thought of is using parallels on mac</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>Love to hear how everyone else here is using QB enterprise on their Mac environment?<BR /><BR /></P><P>&nbsp;</P>

The old version showed a preview of the sales order with indications of which items were in stock and shipable. That functionality is now gone. If I get an order in for 19 items and it shows as partially fulfillable I need to know how many and which items are fulfillable to decide whether to ship a partial order to the customer or to wait until all items are in stock. <P>Hello, we are an auto repair shop a year old now so we are just starting to look at the P&amp;L report and I'm trying to make sure I've got data entered correctly so the report is correct but I don't think I do.</P><P>Here's what I'm seeing:</P><P>Under "Income" I've got parts sales that are the inventory items we sold.</P><P>Also under "Income" are the labor charges collected.</P><P>Then under "COG" are the items we bought from a supplier for a customer. For example a set of tires that we ordered, put on and charged for. Here's the odd part. The price we charged on the invoice shows as a negative number on the P&amp;L and the price we paid for it shows as positive so overall I end up with a negative COG total. Is that correct?</P><P>Also, why does it sometimes break a single item up into 2-3 lines? Like an $8 part will be on two lines as $6.37 and $1.63 when it's a single item on the invoice.</P><P>Thanks for your help! I'm totally new at this.</P>

<P>A few weeks ago, we purchased 2 of the "EMV-ready 2.0" Ingenico iPP350 pin pads for credit cards and debit cards. This was due to the "End of support" message that was displayed in the QB POS about support ending for the non-EMV ready pin pads by the end of August 2019. The old pin pad we had was working fine for 6 years or so, connected to an HP desktop. That Windows 7 Pro desktop had originally been running QB POS Pro 2013, before we upgraded to QB POS Pro v18 last year.&nbsp; Other than not being able to use the chip slot, the old non-EMV ready&nbsp; iPP350 was working normally. When we received the 2 EMV-ready pin pads, both stop responding after a while (it seems due to inactivity, usually at some point overnight) when connected to that same computer. They both end up getting stuck on "This Lane Closed". The only thing that reliably gets them to work again is restarting the computer. In the process of trying to eliminate this problem, I've switched computers twice (to a different HP and a Dell, both running Windows 10). I've checked USB power settings in the bios, in the OS, etc. The only real clue I have is that they seem to "freeze" or stop responding over night, it doesn't seem to happen in the middle of the day when there's store traffic. The POS computer is left powered on all the time. Lastly, Intuit POS support even sent 2 additional EMV-ready pin pads to replace the 2 new ones they had just sent. But nothing has helped.</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>So, I've swapped computers twice, I've tried 4 different EMV-ready pin pads. They all stop responding and get stuck on "This Lane Closed".</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>I can't be the only one experiencing this issue? Three different computers and 4 pin pads all with the same issue?</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>I'm at my wits end ...</P>

<P>Quickbooks Pro 2018 started asking if I would like to change all past and future invoices to reflect a new PO number every time I would make a new invoice. Our invoices all have a new PO given to us by our customers so I always said no. However, I hit the button too quickly and now all of the PO numbers I had on all invoices for a certain customer are gone. I really need to find a way to get them back other than manually typing them in from copies of the invoices. Is there any way to revert to the original invoice after the change has been made?? I don't think so but just in case I've overlooked something. Not happy with QB for adding that question that I can't get rid of!!!&nbsp;</P>

I know that if the remote computers can map a drive and see the company file, they have access, and I can set read/write access.</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>Per the article, the scanning process "shares all of your folders". That's a frightening thought. First of all, what kind of "share" is it ? A "simple" share ? An NTFS share ? What is the scope of "all of your folders" ? The folders specified in the scan ? The whole drive ?</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>Per the article, after the scan "you can now access the company files in these folders from other computers". The implication is that until then, you can't. Is that true ? Is it only true if you want to access it in muli-user mode ? Are all calls to the database running through the database server app ? Is it not possible to open the company file if the database server manager is not running ?</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>What is the implication of "monitored drives" ? Is the database manager actually tracking all file access on the drive ? Should the database folder be the only folder on the drive ?</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>A note in the article states that "you can't monitor mapped drives". What is inherently different about a mapped drive which makes it "unmonitorable" ?</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>The port monitor tab shows a number of conversations at different ports. What specific ports and ranges are required in order for Quickbooks to run ? Does it actually require all ports to be exposed ? That would be hugely unreasonable, especially in a firewalled network.</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>Operationally, there are several things I want to understand.</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>Is the database server manager multithreaded ? Does it benefit from being run on a "server" OS, which is optimized for multiple simultaneous access, as opposed to a desktop one ?</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>Informed answers are welcome. <title>Corporate CC reconciliation in QB online.</title>

<P>Hi,</P><P>Our company has 5 CC under one corporate account. Reconciliation is not done since the last 8 Months.</P><P>My questions are:</P><P>1. Where do I find the ending balance for each CC as the statement just shows for one main account?</P><P>2. Also, how do I handle payment to CC after reconciliation? Do I need to make a journal entry for the same as payment is already made?</P><P>3. I see an opening balance in one CC account. But, a balance needs to be zero. How do I undo the previous reconciliation as 'UNDO' option is not available in the QB version?</P><P>Thanks in advance.</P>

<title>Emails are failing to deliver</title>

<P>All of a sudden, today, when I send out invoices, I get a "Message blocked" error.&nbsp; I always BCC myself on outgoing invoices, and even my own email has been blocked.&nbsp; Makes no sense.&nbsp; Customers not receiving invoices.&nbsp; Anyone else have this issue?<BR /><BR /></P>

<title>Why I do NOT recommend QBO Full Service Payroll</title>

<P>I would like to advise the community against using Intuit Full Service Payroll integrated with QBO.&nbsp; I recently was asked by a client to set up Full Service Payroll for them, integrated with their QBO file.&nbsp; I admit that I had not previously worked with Intuit payroll integrated with QBO, though I have years of experience with QB Payroll integrated with QB Desktop.&nbsp; I am a QB ProAdvisor and have worked with QBD since it was version 2.0!&nbsp; My background as a CPA working with small business clients means that I am well versed in payroll issues.&nbsp; Never did it occur to me that the setup of a simple client payroll could be so fraught with errors.&nbsp; Our first payroll was to run on 7/31/19.&nbsp; This is a client with only 12 employees running payroll semi-monthly.&nbsp; We required Reg pay, OT pay, Holiday pay at 1.5x Reg rate and reimbursement for employee mileage.&nbsp; I sent all documentation to Intuit for payroll setup a full 10 days prior to the date payroll was required to run again.&nbsp; Intuit did not even touch it until two days before the payroll had to run in order to pay the employees timely.&nbsp; I set up all of the following information: employee name, address, birth date, SSN, hire date and Reg pay rates.&nbsp; I sent them all prior detail payroll information, including the MN Unemployment rate that was received by the client from the state agency.&nbsp; The first problem is with the initial setup.&nbsp; Intuit came back to me with an email stating that we had overpaid our MN Unemployment for Q2.&nbsp; The Q2 MN UE return was filed and the payment initiated by the prior payroll provider.&nbsp; We in fact did NOT overpay MN Unemployment.&nbsp; Intuit set up the MN UE rate incorrectly, resulting in the erroneous over payment email from them.&nbsp; I had to inform them of this error and it took me a fair amount of time to get the support rep on the phone to believe me that I was correct and that they set up the MN UE rate incorrectly.&nbsp; The next thing that happened is we received an error message when trying to process the first payroll.&nbsp; The error stated that our direct deposit limits were too low and that we could not process our payroll.&nbsp; They had all the information regarding our previous payrolls, so why did Intuit set the direct deposit limits too low to begin with?!!&nbsp; And of course, since Intuit did not begin the payroll setup until 2 days prior to when we had to run payroll we were in a time crunch to get payroll run.&nbsp; My client called me and I called Intuit to figure out what could be done and their recommendation was to pay the payroll with manual checks!&nbsp; Are you kidding?!!&nbsp; Apparently, Intuit thinks that it's okay to fail in their setup and require an employer to pay their employees with manual checks when the employees are accustomed to and expect having the funds in their account immediately on pay day!&nbsp; I informed the rep that manual checks were NOT an option and I expected them to figure out how to get direct deposit set up to work for this payroll.&nbsp; They finally agreed to reach out to the Direct Deposit Limit team to find out why our DD Limit was set too low.&nbsp; I was then told that it was too low because we had not complied with their request to send them six months of bank statements.&nbsp; Guess what - no one ever asked for ANY bank statements!&nbsp; So basically, the setup team or the DD Limit team never requested information that was required to run our direct deposit payroll timely and then they tried to blame me and/or my client for not complying with a request they never made!&nbsp; Fortunately, even though I was mobile, I was able to access and send them the required bank statements and have the owner of the company send through his approval along with a copy of his driver's license in order to get the DD Limit increased so we could run the 7/31/19 payroll as direct deposits.&nbsp; So now I am thinking, perhaps we are over the setup pain with Intuit payroll.&nbsp; Guess again!&nbsp; The manager of the company went to run the 8/15/19 payroll (on 8/13/19) and once again we were hit with an error message that our DD Limit was too low.&nbsp; Once again, I had to spend hours on a support call to QBO Full Service Payroll to get the DD Limit increased - even though there was no change in our payroll, either in hours or employees!!&nbsp; At the time that I was on the phone with them for this problem, I also asked the support rep why they had not withdrawn the funds for MN withholding for our 7/15/19 payroll (which was due to the state of MN on 8/15/19), even though we had been told via email that Intuit would be remitting that payment.&nbsp; The answer came back that Intuit expected us to make that payment manually, yet that was NEVER communicated to us.&nbsp; We were NOT told that we were to make that payment manually.&nbsp; I was again put on hold and the rep came back to me and told me that Intuit would be making that payment and that it would be made timely.&nbsp; Note – at that time I could have initiated the payment manually and it would have been paid timely.&nbsp; As of 9/11/19 Intuit still has not initiated that payment to MN Revenue; it has not cleared my client's bank account and it has not posted to the MN Revenue website.&nbsp; And Intuit has not notified us that we are to remit that payment manually.&nbsp; So we have a late payment and I have no assurance that Intuit will pay the resulting penalties and interest, even though we are signed up for Full Service Payroll.&nbsp; Now we are trying to run the 9/13/19 payroll and come to find out that Holiday Pay is not set up correctly in QBO.&nbsp; Apparently, when you choose Holiday Pay as a pay item it does not pay out at 1.5x regular pay which is a common occurrence in the payroll world.&nbsp; Instead, I am told it is like PTO or Vacation Pay - yet nowhere is that information obvious, nor has that ever been communicated to me - until we go to run payroll and find that it is not calculating properly.&nbsp; Apparently, we must set up a new pay item called Holiday 1.5 and add that to each individual employee AND we have to manually calculate and fill in the 1.5x rate for them as the system won't even calculate it for you!&nbsp; How stupid is that!!&nbsp; I called Full Service Payroll to get this issue fixed and guess how much time that took?&nbsp; I was on hold for 30 minutes waiting for a response, and I also opened a chat box.&nbsp; The chat box activated about 30 minutes after I opened it, so I went with chat support rather than phone support.&nbsp; Almost 4 hours later that problem is finally solved.&nbsp; Then I began asking about the MN withholding payment that still has not been made and 1.5 hours later I am finally told that I have to make the payment manually for my client and that we will have to submit a request to Intuit to pay any resulting penalties and interest expense.&nbsp; In addition, I had elected to be billed by Intuit for my client's payroll processing and I would in turn bill my client.&nbsp; Thus, my credit card was associated with the payroll billing for my client.&nbsp; Apparently, my credit card was compromised (not sure how or why or by whom) and my credit card company sent me a new card.&nbsp; Intuit knew that my card on file was no longer valid before I had even received my new card in the mail and I had NOT been notified by my credit card company that a new card was forthcoming.&nbsp; So what did Intuit do? &nbsp;Intuit notified my client that their payroll services were on hold because my card was invalid.&nbsp; I was the one who set up the payroll for my client through my QBO Accountant website.&nbsp; I was the one that had contacted the Full Service payroll team to get the setup done and when there is a problem with <STRONG>my credit card</STRONG> - they notify <STRONG>my client</STRONG> and <STRONG>NOT ME</STRONG>!!&nbsp; I would like to know who at Intuit is in charge of the Full Service Payroll setup team and who is in charge of the DD Limit team (who I am told is NOT client facing) and who is in charge of reaching out to their customers when a credit card is not valid.&nbsp; Because NONE of them are doing their job properly or in a way that is any way, shape or form encourage me to recommend Intuit services to my clients.&nbsp; I have voiced my concern with countless support reps and requested a phone call back from someone with authority at Intuit to discuss the poor service that I have experienced, and though I was promised a call back from someone in authority, to date that has not happened.&nbsp; In the last two months, I estimate that I have wasted no less than 24 hours on support calls related to this one client regarding their Intuit Full Service payroll setup.&nbsp; I could have manually calculated their payroll and initiated their tax payments in less time than I have wasted on support calls with Intuit Full Service Payroll.&nbsp; And I can tell you that I am heartily sick up and prone to vomiting every time I am forced to once again listen to their horrible hold music.&nbsp; So now you know why I do NOT recommend that anyone use QBO Full Service Payroll!!&nbsp; And, although I have been a QB ProAdvisor for many years and have defended Intuit accounting software as a quality product in the past, I am now forced to reconsider if there may be a more professional cloud accounting software to use, rather than Intuit.&nbsp; It has been made abundantly clear to me that Intuit has no regard for my success and Intuit has no care for the quality of the service they provide to me or my clients.&nbsp;</P>

<P>My old computer would not boot up due to a problem with the hard drive. I got a new computer and loaded QuickBooks 2018 on it and updated.&nbsp; when I went to restore my data from a backup I found my last several backups did not save. is there a way to get this data from the old hard drive. I am able to access the old hard drive via a docking station but I can't locate what files I need to use to import to my new computer</P>
