7 Apps to De-Stress Your Business During the Holidays

The holidays are fast approaching, and with that comes the usual financial stresses that come with holiday shopping. Small business owners are no strangers to mounting deadlines, but buying holiday gifts can add a unique type of anxiety to go with all of your commonplace due dates. You already have pressure from trying to keep your end-of-year numbers straight, so who needs the extra stress?

Not you, that’s who! Here are some mobile apps that will help you save time while shopping, so you can stress less and continue earning a living with your business.

1. List+

One of the major time sucks during the holidays is monitoring deals and trying to find gifts for everyone on your list. List+ is a Pinterest or Chrome-only browser extension app that allows users to add items they want to purchase to their “watch list” while they shop online. Then List+ will automatically monitor that item and alert you when it goes on sale.

This can free up your time for better uses, like earning money and working with clients to finalize end-of-year transactions.

2. Swappable

When thinking of what gifts to give your clients this year, you can’t go wrong with a guilt-free gift card. The only problem is that it’s sometimes difficult to choose purchasing one from a retailer that your recipient will actually enjoy.

Thanks to Swappable, a digital gift card app, you can put the power in your client’s hand by giving them any gift card that they can trade or swap for the one they really want. Let’s say, for example, you buy someone a gift card for Best Buy, yet he or she really wanted one to use at Amazon. Instead of “claiming” the Best Buy card you purchased, they can swap it for an Amazon card and claim that one. It bears mentioning that only cards purchased through Swappable are eligible for claiming and un-claiming.

Since Swappable is all digital, your clients can receive their cards via text or email, which can really help with those last-minute gifts.

3. MileIQ

MileIQ is a mileage deduction app for Apple and Android devices that helps you track your mileage spent driving to and from client meetings and other business gatherings. This will allow you to track your mileage while following up with clients, meeting them for coffee or running to the post office to mail client letters and packages.

MileIQ tracks your mileage so you can get the maximum deduction on your taxes next year. And as a self-employed business owner, we all know how important claiming all your tax deductions are.

4. Ink Cards

You don’t have to spend a lot of money to show your clients how thankful you are for working with you all year. Something as simple as a holiday card and a few short sentences will ensure they feel appreciated during this holiday season.

Send them a digital holiday card using the Ink Cards app, right from your Apple or Android mobile phone or tablet. Ink Cards also works for sending physical letters, which you can prepare and send directly from the app.

5. Pay It Forward

A great way to de-stress during the holidays is to volunteer and help others. The Pay It Forward app, which is available for Apple and Android devices, encourages you to perform small acts of kindness to strangers and friends alike through daily reminders and suggestions for good deeds. You can track your progress too.

The idea is to help encourage everyone to perform small acts of kindness and to help others on a daily basis in order to remind everyone what this holiday season is really about.

6. Goodwill

If there’s one thing that can really slow you and your business down throughout the year it’s clutter. We all tend to accumulate a lot of stuff, but with the Goodwill app, which is available for Apple and Android devices, you can find donation locations and pass along items you no longer use to someone else in need.

In addition, you can calculate how much your donation equates to for a deduction on your forthcoming tax return.

7. FitBit

With all the foods and drinks that come with holiday parties, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and overstuffed. Don’t forget to make self-care a priority during this busy season. Your business won’t run without you, so put yourself first on the list!

If you have a FitBit, which can be used in conjunction with Apple and Android devices, join a fitness challenge with your friends and family to see who can walk the most steps or do something else equally quantifiable and healthy. Or, take time to go for a nice hike alone with your thoughts while enjoying the nice winter air. Either way, you’ll feel refreshed while staying healthy.

All of these apps will help you stress less during the holidays so you can spend time on the important things, all while ensuring your business continues to run smoothly.
