Announcing a program exclusively for Advanced Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisors!

 

The new ACE program ensures Advanced Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisors can continue to grow their practice and support their clients at a deeper level, all without the need to retake yearly QuickBooks Advanced Certification exams.

 

Advanced Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisors will now have three years to complete nine CPE credits of Advanced Continuing Education (ACE) approved training after getting QuickBooks Advanced Certification, and then every three years after that, in order to maintain their advanced certification status.

 

ACE-approved training covers a variety of advanced topics, venues and times, including live webinars and classroom events developed and delivered by pre-approved ACE Sponsors.

When does the 3-year clock begin?

For those who get QuickBooks Advanced Certified on May 22, 2016 or later, the clock starts the day you become QuickBooks Advanced Certified.

What if I was QuickBooks Advanced Certified before May 22, 2016?

We want all Advanced Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisors to have a full 3 years to earn their 9 CPE credits of ACE. Therefore, if you were QuickBooks Advanced Certified on May 21, 2016 or earlier, your 3 year clock begins on your anniversary date in 2017. For example, if you were advanced certified on January 1, 2014, your 3 year clock begins January 1, 2017.

Where can I find the date I was advanced certified?

In the ProAdvisor Certification Center click Certification. Under the list of certifications, click View certification history. The date you completed each of your certifications is listed here.

What if I am Advanced Certified in QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online?

We know you are busy. If you are advanced certified in QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online, the same 9 CPE credits can apply to both QuickBooks Advanced Certifications.

What training qualifies as “ACE-approved”?

Qualifying training consists of designated “ACE-approved” advanced training delivered by official QuickBooks ACE Sponsors.

I am QuickBooks Desktop Advanced certified. I see an ACE-approved training event about QuickBooks Online that would provide valuable information for my practice and my clients. Will the credits I earn from taking an ACE-approved QuickBooks Online training count toward maintaining my QuickBooks Desktop Advanced Certification status?

Yes. We interviewed Advanced ProAdvisors about this topic, and they overwhelmingly recommended that Advanced Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisors should be allowed to choose ACE-approved topics that can help them help their clients, even if it’s about a product other than the one on which they are advanced certified. If it’s ACE approved, the credits you earn can count toward either or both QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop Advanced Certifications.

How do I register for an ACE-approved training?

The ACE Sponsors handle all registration and attendance for ACE-approved training they develop and deliver. These courses have been pre-approved and provide CPE. All information about the training, including course descriptions, number of credits, and instructions for registering will be on their websites.

Do I have to pay to attend an ACE-approved training event?

That depends on which ACE-approved training you decide to take. Some ACE-approved training may take place during conferences that have attendance fees. Some training will be held via webinars that may be free or have a cost associated with them.

Does ACE-approved training provide CPE?

Yes, all ACE Sponsors must be registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) and ACE-approved training provides CPE. However, any issues related to CPE are managed by the ACE Sponsor, not Intuit or the QuickBooks ProAdvisor Program. This includes getting the documentation of attendance and issuance of CPE.

As a ProAdvisor, how do I report that I’ve completed 9 CPE credits of Advanced Continuing Education (ACE) approved training?

The reporting system within the ProAdvisor Center will be available in October of 2016. Stand by for more information about the process! In the meantime, feel free to start accumulating ACE Credits.

Will I be required to submit any documentation to prove that I’ve attended ACE-approved training?

ACE Sponsors will submit a monthly roster of attendance to their ACE-approved training, so submission of ACE documentation will not be required, but should be maintained. You should be able to document the following for each session:

  • – ACE Sponsor Name
  • – Title of course
  • – Date
  • – Location
  • – Number of CPE credits
  • – CPE Certificate provided by sponsor

The QuickBooks ProAdvisor Program will do audits of ACE completion submissions against the rosters of attendance. Any misrepresentation or incorrect information may result in suspension or revocation of your Advanced QuickBooks Certification status.

What happens if I do not complete 9 CPE credits of ACE-approved training within the 3 year clock?

If you have not completed 9 CPE credits of ACE-approved training within the 3 year clock, your Advanced QuickBooks Certification status and associated ProAdvisor benefits will be suspended. Once you complete the 9 CPE credits of ACE-approved training, your Advanced QuickBooks Certification status and your ProAdvisor benefits will be resumed. However, your next 3 year cycle will still be counted from the original Advanced QuickBooks Certification anniversary date.

Are there any other requirements for maintaining my QuickBooks Advanced Certification status?

Glad you asked! The answer is yes. You must also stay current in your QuickBooks Online and/or QuickBooks Desktop Certifications:

QuickBooks Online:

  • – You need to take and pass the QuickBooks Online Certification exam every 365 days to maintain your certification status.

 

QuickBooks Desktop:

  • – You must have passed at least 1 of the 3 most recent versions of the QuickBooks Desktop certification.
  • – On the day the new certification debuts, the 3 most recent years shift forward to include the current year.
  • – If that shift places your latest certification outside the 3 most recent years, then you will have to complete the most recent QuickBooks Desktop certification that is available.
  • – To avoid losing your status, we recommend certifying every year.
  • Once you have been certified on QuickBooks Desktop for two consecutive years, you qualify to take the shorter recertification or “update” exam.

Can I still take ACE-approved training if I don’t stay current on my QuickBooks Desktop and/or QuickBooks Online certifications?

ACE-approved training is available to anyone, so you can continue to take ACE-approved training if you are no longer Advanced Certified by reason of not maintaining your QuickBooks Desktop and/or QuickBooks Online certifications. However, you will not regain your Advanced QuickBooks Certification status until you are current on your QuickBooks Desktop and/or QuickBooks Online certifications.
