Float now integrates with QuickBooks

2 min read

Our mission is to make sure that you’re using QuickBooks in the way that works best for your business. That’s why we’ve developed apps.com, a growing platform of business tools (including Float) that allow you to get more done, all in one place – QuickBooks.

Over the next few months, we will provide you with more detail on some of these business tools and the teams behind them. First up, it’s Float, the app that helps you make better predictions on your cash flow based entirely on your existing financial information. Here, they are in their own words:

What is Float?

Float pulls financial data from QuickBooks in order to automatically make cash flow projections. It helps SMB owners with their short-term cash flow management and ensures there are no nasty surprises. The longer-term forecasts and scenario planning feature helps with business planning (77% of our subscribers say that Float helps them make better business decisions).

Float really shines a light on the benefits of good financial planning. Business owners who use Float are less likely to engage in firefighting (because they have better visibility of the future) and much more likely to engage with financial service providers.

Why QuickBooks?

Our integration with QuickBooks came about because we think they really get the needs of small business owners. Where QuickBooks makes accounting less painful, Float make planning less painful. At the end of the day, Float was founded by an entrepreneur to help other entrepreneurs manage and grow their businesses, so it feels like we have a really positive shared mission!

Where are you based? We’re based in Edinburgh, right at the heart of the burgeoning tech scene there.

How many employees do you have? 10

What’s the culture like? We’ve very much got that classic, relaxed vibe you might expect from a tech company. But dig under the surface and you quickly discover that our team also has a real intensity and determination to do highly-meaningful, world-class work. It’s fast-paced and exciting environment!

What’s your fun fact? Every Friday we sit down as a team and eat burritos. Sometimes we work up our appetites by playing a bit of ultimate frisbee beforehand.

What do you your customers say about you?

‘I love this app! I can’t imagine how I lived without this app!’ – Kate Lee, Tilikum Software.

‘We’re loving the version of this software for Quickbooks’ – Courtney McKee, Headframe Spirits Inc.

‘So far Float has been great! I use it quite a bit to run what-if scenarios, and it has been useful in generating pro-formas for banks. I particularly like the layered scenarios feature as well as the ability to see how small changes effect the overall picture in the graphs’ – Philip Epstein, Black & Red Inc
