We’re delighted to announce that Intuit UK with StartUp Britain picked up two awards last night at ‘The Corporate Engagement Awards 2013’ in London. Judges pointed to how Intuit provided ‘Intuit Pay’ as effective mobile payment and Point of Sale solution at no cost to fledgling retail entrepreneurs involved in PopUp Britain and supported them since the initiative started in July 2012.
In addition to winning the Gold award for Best Open-Ended Partnership, Intuit with Start-Up Britain picked up the Grand Prix Award – most prestigious awards of awards on the night!
The grand prix award went to StartUp Britain and Intuit’s PopUp Britain project, a programme that was launched in 2011 as a response to the government’s call for the development of entrepreneurship awareness programmes. It now provides assistance for the UK’s SMEs by providing low-cost high street premises.
According to one of the judges “It’s a really great and innovative partnership facilitating a real impact on many – the high street, small businesses and entrepreneurs, the sponsor to highlight their service and the economy. Fantastic initiative brilliantly executed.”
Intuit: Proud sponsor of PopUp Britain
Mike Williams, Head of Intuit UK Business, said: “Intuit is committed to helping entrepreneurs, small business and accountants. By partnering with PopUp Britain and supporting PopUp tenants with a simple and cost effective way to take cashless payments with Intuit Pay, we have played a vital role in their success. The Grand Prix Award is testament to the hard work and ingenuity of everyone involved in achieving this important milestone. Without StartUp Britain we would not have had the opportunity. This is an amazing outcome and I am extremely proud of what we have achieved together.”
StartUp Britain co-founder Emma Jones said: “We’re very proud of the work we do at PopUp Britain to get start-ups and small businesses onto the high street – and delighted it has been recognised in this fantastic way!“ Without Intuit, none of it would be possible.”
PopUp Britain offers short-term opportunities to start-ups and micro businesses from all over the UK. It is part of a pioneering initiative aimed at matching online retail start-ups with empty high street shops. The scheme has so far opened shops in Piccadilly, Chelsea, Victoria, Poulton-Le-Fylde, near Blackpool, Camberley in Surrey, Moreton-in-Marsh in Gloucestershire as well as others around London.
The awards are run by Communicate Magazine.
If you are an entrepreneur or small UK business you can apply for a space in one of the PopUp Britain stores. PopUp shops are a great opportunity to pitch your products to a wider audience, experiment with physical retail and gain face-to-face customer feedback.
