The big news this month is the launch of Apps.com, a time-saving one-stop shop that provides the practical tools you need to effectively run your business, and the introduction of support for workplace pensions and Auto-enrolment.

What’s new?

Apps.com

We’ve developed apps.com, a one stop shop providing you with a growing platform of over 100 business tools, developed by third party partners, that will connect to QuickBooks Online add value to your business.

apps

With business tools ranging from inventory management (Unleashed) receipt and invoice management (Receipt Bank) and automatic debtor chasing (Debtor Daddy), you can be sure to find the right add ons that will get you ready for success.

Apps.com is:

  • Easy to navigate – You can search for exactly what you need for your business by using easy-to-use categories or by typing what you need
  • Easy to connect – Hassle free integration with all of our add on tools
  • Easy to control – View a summary of the tools you’ve signed up for

Apps.com can be accessed within QuickBooks online, but also by visiting the official website.

Workplace pension Auto-enrolment

You can now manage both payroll and Auto-enrolment from within QuickBooks Online, which will be massively helpful, especially with the new tax year approaching quickly. You will now see an additional tab within the payroll tab where you can set-up and manage your workplace pensions and stay compliant with the new legislations related to Auto-enrolment.

 Auto-enrolment features in QuickBooks Online

We’ve added all the features you need to set-up and manage Auto-enrolment including:

  • Entering the staging date
  • Workforce assessment postponement
  • Pension scheme set up
  • Assigning which pay elements are included in pensionable and qualifying earnings
  • Automatic assessment of employees when running a pay run
  • Calculation of employee and employer pension contributions
  • Compliant employee communications available to download
  • NEST membership and payments file
  • Payment file available to send to other pension providers

To get started, go to the Auto-enrolment tab and follow our five step set-up wizard. You’ll need your staging date and pension scheme information at hand.

Custom Form Styles for everyone

We’ve recently introduced a range of great customisation options for forms such as invoices, so that you can present your company in just the way you want. Upload your logo, change fonts, adjust the layout, add headers and footers, pick your colour scheme – there are a wealth of options.

Unfortunately, we couldn’t offer these new features to all QuickBooks Online users at first, but now we’re happy to announce that we will be making the full set of form customisation features available to everyone.

The changes will start in March but won’t happen immediately, so please bear with us! We’ll contact you to let you know when you get access to the new features, but be sure to check every now and then when you’re logged in, just in case.

We’re listening…

Your opinion is important to us: hearing from you and understanding what you need helps us decide what features to add to QuickBooks. Here is another new feature that resulted from the things you told us.

Roles and Permissions updates

You told us that you’d like more control over what individual users can see when they use QuickBooks Online, so that you can make sure sensitive data can only be accessed by people with appropriate authorisation.

With that in mind, we’re introducing an update to the user permissions setting that lets you limit the amount of data displayed on the Supplier and Customer pages, ensuring you remain in control of what’s seen at all times.

This will only be the first of a number of update to permission settings within QuickBooks Online, so watch this space…
