Running a business means having the ability to juggle multiple tasks at once. However, one of the most important tasks should be staying on top of your expenses. Without a firm grip on just how much you’re spending, what looks like a healthy profit, could in fact be worrying losses.

In reality, keeping track of what’s going out of your business can be a very time consuming process, and ultimately takes time away from what matters most – growing your business.

At QuickBooks, we want to get you managing your expenses seamlessly and quickly. Here are some of the ways within QuickBooks that can help you stay on top of your expenses, in a few taps.

Automatic bank downloads

You can automatically download and categorise your bank transactions  from within QuickBooks. It’s also simple to add new expenses from your bank feeds, as well as match any previously entered expenses.

What do I do next?

Just log into the mobile app and follow BANKING> BANK/CREDIT CARD>MATCH (reconciliations, by swiping right)

Manage your expenses on your smartphone

It’s even easier to stay on top of your expenses, especially if you do it remotely. The QuickBooks mobile app can help. Available on iOS and Android, take a photo of your receipt and attach it to your transaction within your QuickBooks account – simple.

You can also download and categorise bank transactions on your iPhone and iPad (this feature is currently available in iOS only). The app will also seamlessly link with your QuickBooks account, meaning any rules you set will be transferred across to your laptop or any other device.

Download the app from the app store and go to EXPENSES>Take a picture of your receipt> Answer the following questions> TAP “Save”

Third party apps that effectively manage expenses

Expensify

In Expensify, your employee receipts get transferred into expense reports, allowing you to easily approve them. It automatically reconciles the receipts to the corresponding credit card transaction.
