Having a problem with recurring invoices: when I "use" a template (reminder type) to create invoice, the previous & next dates are not updating. How to fix this?

I've got some troubleshooting steps to fix the date issue with the recurring transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO), Susan.

Using the template before or after the interval does not alter the dates. This means the dates will only update in both the Previous date and Next date columns if they skip it. To resolve this, we can click the drop-down menu in the Action column and choose the Skip next date option. Let me guide you on how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon on the top menu.
  2. Under Lists, select Recurring transactions.
  3. From the list, find the recurring transaction.
  4. Select Skip next date from the Edit dropdown.
  5. Review the transaction details and add more if needed, then select Save and close and Save and new.

If the same thing happens, we'll need to delete and recreate  the recurring template. Just follow the steps in this article on how to delete the old template: Edit a recurring template in QuickBooks Online. Then, go to the Delete a recurring template section.

Additionally, you can visit these articles that outline how to customise the look of your invoices to match the branding of your company and record invoice payments to keep correct financial records:
