Hi connieagnew1,
Thanks for sticking with us! I'm glad to hear you're using QuickBooks Online Payroll to manage your employee's wages. Correctly setting up your employee's profile is essential to ensure your books are accurate. I'll be happy to assist you with this.
When adding new employees in Advanced Payroll, you're able to enter their YTD information by following these steps.
- Go to Employees.
- Select Add new employee to get started.
- Enter the First Name and Last Name.
- Select if they are an Employee or Contractor.
- You are also asked Have you paid this employee or contractor this year?
- Select Yes to enable the Year-to-date section and enter the information.
In Standard Payroll, here are the steps.
- Go to Employees.
- Select Add an employee.
- Stay on the Pay tab then scroll down to section 8.
- Click on the pencil icon and enter the YTD information.
It's important to note that section 8 shows up when you have no paycheques in the system.
If you've run payroll before and unable to enter the YTD information in Standard Payroll, or if you didn't enable the Year-to-date section for an eligible employee in Advanced Payroll, please reach out to our tech support team so we can enable that for you or add the necessary information at the back end. Here's how to get in touch.
