Can we transfer for example: a client list from one QB account to another

Importing your customers is a great way to increase the efficiency of setting up a new company. QuickBooks Online makes it easy to export your lists, which can then be imported into a different account. This can really save time, and ensures you'll have all the information you need to run your business. I'll be happy to guide you through this.


The easiest information to transfer is the following fours lists:

  • Customer List
  • Supplier List
  • Chart of Accounts
  • Products and Services List

Transferring these between QuickBooks Online accounts consists of exporting them to Excel, so you can import the file into a second account. It's just a few simple steps:

  1. Sign in to the account that has your list then select Reports.
  2. Depending on what list you need to export, search for and run Customer Contact List report.
  3. Customize the list report’s columns. Select each report below to check how their columns should be ordered.
  4. After saving your report, export it.
  5. Open the exported report in Excel.
  6. Delete rows 1-4 to remove your company name and report title from the sheet.
  7. Save your report again as Excel or CSV.

Once that's done, it's just as easy to import it:

  1. Sign in to the other company file and click the Gear icon.
  2. Under Tools, choose Import Data.
  3. From the list, select Customers (or Suppliers) depending on which you want to import.
  4. Select Browse.
  5. Find and select the Excel file, click Open, then select Next to continue.
  6. Map your data then select Next.
  7. Adjust your data if necessary then select Import.

You can migrate the lists data between QBO accounts as mentioned by AndréB. Once you need to migrate transactions data (e.g Sales Receipt, Receipt-Payment), you have to use a 3rd party tool.
