If I changed an account in the Chart of Accounts from a sub-account to a regular account, would this affect any prior postings?

I'll use an example to illustrate how this works.
Let's say you have a parent account for Travel, with the sub-accounts Transportation and Hotel Fees. If you decide to remove the Transportation sub-account and make it a regular account, the balance from this account will be removed from the Travel parent account.
The transactions associated with the sub-account won't be impacted by changing the status of the account at all, it will simply impact the balance of the parent account.
