Fill in a weekly timesheet

Here’s how to enter a weekly timesheet. If you need help with a single activity timesheet, see Enter a single timed activity.

  1. Select the Plus icon (+) at the top, then Weekly Timesheet.
  2. From the drop-down, choose a name.
  3. Select the week for which you want to record activities.
  4. For each type of activity, enter an activity line:
      1. Choose a customer name if you want to bill the activity to the customer or track expenses for the customer.
    1. Complete the following optional fields. Note that if you do not see the fields, they are turned off. You can turn them on by going to your Company Settings (or Account and Settings).
      • Service: If you use services to enter time, choose a service that represents this activity.
      • Class
      • Location
    2. Enter a description of the activity. Note that if the activity is billed to a customer, the Description appears on their invoice, depending on your company settings. Text for the description appears automatically if you select an item from the optional Service field.
    3. Select the Billable checkbox if you want to bill the activity to the customer. Enter a rate per hour then select Taxable if applicable.
  5. For each day of the week this activity occurred, enter the number of hours spent on the activity for that day. You can add more activity lines if needed or clear all lines and begin again. If activities for this week are similar to last week's, you can select Copy last timesheet at the bottom of the form.
  6. Select Save.
Important:
  • Weekly timesheets are non-posting transactions. This means they will not show on reports like Profit and Loss until contents of the timesheet have been added to a sale for expense type transaction.
  • Timesheets only allow a single hourly rate. If you need to enter multiple hourly rates, you can sign up for a QBO Payroll subscription.
