The import process usually recovers on its own from most of these errors and completes the import. Once done, QuickBooks Desktop displays a report of the changes that couldn’t be imported and possible reasons why. The unapplied changes may then be manually entered into the client’s company file.

Solution 1: Continue the import process

  1. Select Send whenever the error message appears.
  2. Select OK to resume import.
  3. A list appears if there are changes that weren't applied to the client's file. Manually enter these changes.

Solution 2: Verify data and re-create change file

  1. Restore a recent backup or the backup created when importing the accountant's changes.
  2. Run a verify and rebuild data on the client's file.
  3. Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.
  4. Recreate the change file in the Accountant's copy in QuickBooks Desktop.

Solution 3: Abandon changes

  1. Remove the accountant's copy restriction in the client file.
  2. Resolve data damage issues (basic troubleshooting).
  3. Create an accountant's copy to recreate changes.
