According to the Goods and Services Tax (GST) guidelines outlined by the Govt. of India, businesses are required to file the GSTR-1 on a monthly or quarterly basis. The GSTR-1 is a list of all the outward supplies or your sales figures.
The due dates for GSTR-1 are based on your turnover. If your business has sales of up to Rs. 1.5 crores, you will need to file a quarterly return. If your business has sales of over Rs. 1.5 crores, you will need to file your return monthly.
In our efforts to help you stay compliant to the GST guidelines, we have introduced a new feature in QuickBooks that helps you export your GSTR 1 return in the JSON format which can be used to upload onto the GST portal directly.
What Does This Update Mean for Your Business?
Earlier, customers had to import their return in an excel format, spend time validating the data and then convert it into JSON format using the Govt. offline utility tool before being able to upload it on the GST portal.
With our latest update, you can directly generate a JSON file of your GSTR 1 return and instantly upload it to the GST Portal. All you have to do is verify your GSTR 1 details and export it as JSON. Even better – this output is ready for upload onto the GST Portal.
How to Export GSTR-1 in JSON from QuickBooks?
1- After signing into QuickBooks, click on ‘Reports’ in the left navigation bar and select ‘GSTR Reports (New)’
2- From the GSTR Reports page, click on ‘Export GSTR-1’ button and then select ‘Export JSON’ from the drop-down.
Generating your GSTR 1 return and uploading them on the GST Portal has never been simpler. However, should you have any questions about this feature, please log on to the QuickBooks Community; ask your question and a QuickBooks expert will answer it soon.
