Fix a report that is too large to display

Learn how to fix a report that is too large to display in QuickBooks Online.

While running reports, you may see a message that says your report is too large to display.  This happens when the report exceeds the size limits. Here’s how you can fix this.

Understand size limits when exporting a report to Excel

• Columns: maximum of 1,024
• Cells: maximum of 400K cells with data
• Data: maximum of 10 MB

Fix a report that is too large to display

Here are ways to fix a report that is too large to display.

1. Follow this link to complete the steps in product
2. Open the report you want to fix.
3. Drag the vertical line between the columns to adjust their width.
4. Remove columns to display more data. 
5. Run reports for a specific date range using the Report period ▼ dropdown.

Note: If the report still doesn’t display all your data, you can export your reports to Excel.

Remove columns

1. Follow this link to complete the steps in product
2. Open the report you want to view and edit.
3. Select Columns. Untick the box of the column you want to remove.
4. Select Save As, then select Save. The report is saved under custom reports.
