Understanding QuickBooks Workforce data and battery usage

by Intuit• Updated 2 weeks ago

See how much battery and data the Workforce app uses. If you run into an error, you can troubleshoot the app.

What we do with your data

  • QuickBooks Workforce only uses your app data only for time tracking purposes and will never share it with third parties.

Data storage

  • The storage space used is made up of the application and data storage amounts.
  • In QuickBooks Workforce, the amount of storage space used depends on your role, how many people you manage, and your permissions. For example, when you sign in as a team member, only your information downloads, using much less storage space than an admin’s.

Note: Data usage is based on the mobile data plan from your carrier. It is different from data storage, which is the space required on your device to save content like text and photos.

Data usage

The exact amount of data used varies by:

  • Device (iOS devices sync for shorter durations)
  • Connection (when connected to Wi-Fi, no data is used)
  • How often you clock in and out, change locations, and switch jobs or customers

Battery usage

QuickBooks Workforce doesn't run continuously, so it uses a low amount of your mobile device's battery power. The amount varies by:

  • Device (iOS devices sync for shorter durations than Android‌ devices)
  • How often you change location (if GPS tracking is turned on)
  • How often you clock in and out, and switch jobs or customers
  • How often you force a sync

Device steps

To find out how much data storage, data usage, and battery usage your Workforce app is using on your device:

  1. To find out data storage, go to Settings, then select General.
    • Select iPhone Storage, and go to Workforce.
    • Next to Workforce, is the total number of megabytes (MB) the app uses.
  2. To find out the data usage, go back to Settings, and select Cellular.
    • Go to Workforce to view data usage.
  3. To find out battery usage, go back to Settings, and select Battery.
    • Go to Workforce to view battery usage. If it doesn't appear in the apps list, it’s using less than 1% of the device's battery power.

Note: Instructions for these settings may vary depending on your device. Check the instructions on your device’s Support page if you need additional help.

  1. Go to Settings and select Apps.
  2. Select QuickBooks Workforce.
  3. Go to Usage. In this section you can view.
    • Mobile Data: megabytes (MB) of data used since the listed date.
    • Battery: Percentage of battery used since last fully charged.
    • Storage: The amount of MB your account is using (based on your role and permissions).
