As of January 14, 2020, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or support for PCs running Windows Server 2008. This means that computers running on Windows Server 2008 will be more vulnerable to security risks and viruses.
At Intuit, the security of our customers’ data is a top priority. To help customers safeguard their personal information, like their Social Insurance number and bank account information, we strongly recommend that desktop customers using Windows Server 2008 upgrade their operating system to newer versions of Windows Server, before installing their product.
What if I don't want to upgrade from Windows Server 2008?
You can still use older versions of QuickBooks Desktop. However, upgrading from Windows Server 2008 to newer versions of Windows Server helps to protect your QuickBooks Desktop data, including your customers' and employees' sensitive information.
I use a hosted version of QuickBooks, what should I do?
Most hosting providers will upgrade their systems to move to newer versions of Windows Server.
