I seem to be having an issue with T183's. When I try to print express NOA, I get a message saying CRA has not yet verified the 183. I am not using digital signatures and Part E clearly indicates "I would like my electronic efiler to receive a one time notice of .............
Is anyone else having this problem? It is happening once every 2 or 3 returns. I have Authorize a Rep on all of them and the proper boxes have indicated I have it and that I am not doing a digital signature.
This isn't a Profile issue. Rather, it is CRA deciding that this particular client requires a Pre-Assessment Review. CRA routinely does both Pre and Post Assessment Reviews to insure that our tax system is working properly. Sadly, the audit message on e-filing doesn't always show that a Pre-Assessment Review was triggered. I've experienced this many times over the years, both with Profile and also with the current software that I'm using this year (not Profile), where the software reports that the return was filed and processed successfully, but then I log into CRA and see the message that it is being Assessed. I've experienced these delays to be resolved from within days on the short end, but up to a month on the long end. Usually they are resolved without sending the client any letters for documentation - they simply need an agent to review the file and usually it passes the review and the NOA is issued.
Hope this helps.
Thanks. They must be picking on me this year. I am just a small at home operation and out of the returns that I have filed, I already have 4 files waiting for NOA. It is very annoying when you need to tell your client that you will mail it later, plus time consuming on the follow up. It has gotten to the point where I am surprised if one goes through.
I know what you mean. I'm also a small home based business. I think I've had one this year so far that I've noticed. My solution to the problem, however, is not to offer the express NOA option to my clients unless they request it. By not offering the service, I'm not stuck in your situation of now having to monitor the account so that I can follow up and send them the NOA. As well, if you now have to send them the NOA by email (vs a secure email program like e-courier.com), then you have to password protect the document before sending it to insure it remains confidential. If I happen to notice that their NOA hasn't been issued, then I may log in to check and then send my client an email to let them know there is a delay (or the client may contact me about the delay), but at least I'm not obliged by the T183 to do this since that Express NOA option isn't selected.
