Can I import / carry forward prior year tax files from other tax software products?

Hello ddell1,

Importing your tax info from other software products is an essential task and I'm here to help point you in the right direction. QuickBooks is a versatile program that puts your finances into perspective and it'd vital you get the support you need with this.

In QuickBooks, you can import certain data such as:

  • Customers
  • Suppliers
  • Accounts
  • Products and Services
  • Invoices
  • Bills
  • Journal Entries
  • Bank data

I encourage you to learn more about importing data using this link here. Here's how to enter historical tax payments in the program if you need to:

  1. Select Taxes from the left menu.
  2. Select Payroll Tax at the top.
  3. Select Enter prior tax history.
  4. Select Add Payment.
  5. Enter the details of your payments, including the period start, end, and payment date. Be sure to include the breakdown of each tax type that you paid.
  6. Select OK.

I'd also recommend looking into journal entries as they can also be used to reflect transactions in your books. To create a journal entry, click New (+) > Journal entry.

Let me know if this info helps. I'll be here if you need anything else.

I want to import income tax files from other tax software products into PROFILE T1, not Quickbooks.  Can I do that?

Hi, thank you for using Intuit ProFile Community

ProFile Community has a carryforward article here. There are links to articles for various types of carryforwards on the page.

ProFile cannot open competitor files, only carryforward is available.

Hope this helps
