importing from prior year turbotax

Now that I am finished my first year with Profile, I would like to import many years of TurboTax files.

Is this possible without having to reenter the data??

Yes, I did this a few years ago.  In the Profile program, go to File - Carry Forward.  When the window opens up, go to the "Files of type" drop down box, click on the down arrow, and select the TurbotaxT1 option.  Locate your Turbotax file, select it, and click Carry forward.

Does not work. What this does is create a new T1 file for the next year.

It sounds like rather than importing a file from TurboTax, you are asking if the history can be imported into the current Profile T1?  I think you should have carried forward the TurboTax file from 2021 into 2022 Profile, then done the 2022 T1.  If you instead did the 2022 T1 in Profile without the carry forward and are just looking for history,  then you would have to  enter the history on the appropriate summary (5 year tax summary, comparative summary, rental comparative, T2125 comparative).

Let's start again.

I used Turbotax for over 10 ears. I moved to Profile this year.

I did carry forward the 2021 Turbotax files into T1 2022, which worked well.

I would like to backfill my client history with the (completed and filed) Turbotax T1 files into Profile.

is there a utility to simply read in the year's file into the same year?

Not that I am aware of.  You do have access to the prior year's ProFile programs, so you could do each year separately (open 2021 Profile, roll forward 2020 TurboTax, etc), and/or you can manually type in the relevant figures to the comparative summaries as mentioned.  That is all I am aware of.

Yes, that is Plan B, but replicating the returns manually is a chore.

I was hoping for a more "elegant" solution.

Thanks for your time and effort.

Is there anyone else out there with a solution?
