Onboard a client and create a close in Intuit Accountant Suite

by Intuit• Updated 1 week ago

Overview

Use Books Close in Intuit Accountant Suite to manage your clients' month-end closing procedures in one place. Assigning a client to a close template keeps your process consistent and helps your team track progress from onboarding through close.

Before you start

  • Only the primary and company admins have default access to onboard a close client. Your firm can provide this access to other team members by editing access control settings for Books Close.
  • Before you onboard a client, you'll need to have created a default close template. Learn more at Set up Books Close templates.

Onboard a client and create a close

In Intuit Accountant Suite:

  1. Go to Work and select Books Close (Take me there).
  2. Select Onboard close client.
  3. In the Onboard close client window, select the Client â–Ľ dropdown and select the client you want to onboard.
  4. Select the Close period â–Ľ dropdown and select the closing timeframe you want to set up.
  5. Select the Close template â–Ľ dropdown and select the template you want to assign to this client.
  6. Select the Preparer, Reviewer, and Approver â–Ľ dropdowns and select the team member(s) who will be assigned to manage this client's close process.
  7. Select Save to finish onboarding, or select Save and start close to begin the closing process for the selected period immediately.

The client is now assigned to the selected Books Close template for the specified period. Assigned team members can begin working on the closing tasks.

Create additional closes

You can create additional closes for other time periods from Books close overview.

  1. Go to Work and select Books Close (Take me there).
  2. Select Create close.
  3. On the Create close window, from the Client â–Ľ dropdown, select the client you want to onboard.
  4. Select the Close period â–Ľ dropdown and select the timeframe for the new close.
  5. Select Save. You'll see an additional line for the new close on the overview page.
Note: Select Save and start close to begin the closing process for the selected period immediately.
