QuickBooks Desktop crashes when exporting report to Excel worksheet

When you export reports to Excel, (both for new and existing worksheets) QuickBooks crashes or freezes with no progress. This is caused by any of the following reasons:
- MS Office and QuickBooks versions are not compatible
- MS Office or QuickBooks installations are damaged
- There is a problem with the report or the data file itself
Note:
Excel worksheet has 256 column limit and will result in a warning message- "Excel allows 256 columns in a worksheet", if exceeded.

To troubleshoot the issue, you need to follow the outlined solutions in order.
Solution 1: Ensure the compatibility of QuickBooks Desktop and MS Office.
Solution 2: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.
Solution 3: Repair QuickBooks Desktop.
Solution 4: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.
Solution 5: Repair MS Office.
